For a long time, Ryuji was quiet - simply keeping an arm around Yusuke - he didn't ever like to bring up either of their pasts but whenever Yusuke did need to vent or to rant about what had happened, he wanted him to know that he'd always be there to offer his support and listen to him.
"That bastard manipulated you - he manipulated all of you guys. I mean, he was your teacher ever since you were a kid right…?" Of course, he didn't know the ins and outs of how that old bastard operated but it was clear at one point, his students had thought the world of him - maybe even saw him as a teacher, or a father. "He took advantage of the way you guys trusted him…"
"That just shows he wasn't really an artist, yeah…? Most artists would care about their integrity and wouldn't want to just do something for the money and I think most of 'em would especially care about making something that's really their own and comes from the heart, yeah…? You want to produce art that matters and that means something to you. No matter what, you've always held onto your integrity and always wanted to make art that you wanted to make, 'cause of your own convictions."
"Definitely does make it hurt sometimes - no doubt, but in a way - going through what I did reminded me just how much I love what I do…" He muses, now nestling closer to Yusuke. "I'm just happy you love it too - and how we can share the stuff we love with each other."
"Thank you right back to you - and more than anything else." He grips Yusuke's face in his hands. "...I love you."
"Since I can remember. Like a father..." He winced.
"I love you, too." He kissed him and leaned against him. "Let's not speak of such sad things anymore, okay? We're going to make a better world. A world where people like us don't get hurt anymore... Where no one will."
