Hello, so I am recording this audio for my friend Riham, who is a twenty- five year old nurse from Palestine. Riham would be recording this herself except the internet in her area is very slow, so it is difficult to upload a video there. When the war began, Riham was heavily pregnant with her daughter Hazar, who is now a year and five months old. For the past few months, both her and her daughter have been suffering from malnourishment and skin infections due to the harsh living conditions caused by the war. Because of the war, specifically the blockade, prices have skyrocketed.
Now, Riham is pregnant again and she is due to give birth in two weeks,
Now in these two weeks, she needs to accumulate atleast 2900 dollars to cover all such expenses: 700$ to rent a comfortable place for her whole family, 200$ for transportation in a car, 500$ for check-up and delivery bills, $500 to buy mattresses and covers, and lastly, an additional $1000 dollars for the newborn baby's expenses. This is what happens when there is little to no media coverage for a country going through a genocide over the past 3 years! Not only people are surviving displacement, famine and violence, but they are at high risk of infection by diseases!
It is devastating since hospitals are overflowing with patients and have been losing access to electricity, depending on solar energy for power! One hospital has to use light from cell phones to conduct surgery but the patient has died! So I ask you to please talk about Sudan! We need to boycott the UAE, donate to fundraisers and grassroots organizations and protest in the streets!
