So one of the most underappreciated things I want to talk is this scene in King’s Men when they were in a cabin and Renee woke them up because she needed a car:

So the first thing I’d like to point out is that Andrew woke up to somebody at the door of his bedroom with somebody already in his bed – and he did not flip out and did not hit anyone. Now it’s possible that Andrew wasn’t in fact sleeping at all, because he had been lying there watching Neil, thinking how did he get himself in such a situation, debating if he was really allowed to keep this stray, and wondering if the guy will disappear again if he so much as blinks. But I doubt it. The text does say that the sound woke them both up, and even though Neil sometimes is as observant as Harry Potter, I do believe that, because I like thinking about Andrew feeling safe and comfortable sleeping with Neil at his side.

 Now, it’s been mentioned a number of times that on the run Neil kept a gun under his pillow. So when he heard a sound from the door, he reached for a gun – under his pillow… and he found Andrew’s hand… under his pillow… Which means that Andrew slept with his arm under Neil’s pillow. And if it’s not the cutest shit you’ve ever heard of, then I don’t know what is!

I also think it’s quite symbolic that Neil reached for something that will protect him and he did find something that will protect him.

I also think about what Andrew thought when he glanced at Neil and saw how scared he was. He was probably walking to the door like “Imma fuck up whoever scared him like that.” And thank god it was Renee or he would’ve decked them.

Can we also talk about the fact that renee just tapped her fingernails on the door instead of like knocking or banging at the door? Because she knows how a small sound like this can wake andrew up just as easily as knocking. And i firmly believe that she’s also trying to scare neil as little as possible by making a quiet noise to get their attention instead of a loud one

Also she didn’t just knock and open the door and whisper to get their attention like how pretty much any of the other Foxes would have I think. She just tapped her fingernails and waited.

Okay, so Nicky sees these socks and has to buy them for all the foxes. this is just a common misconception that kinda bothers me personally (and honestly, kind of nbd) but like. kids are “soft.” they’re happy, and they feel things intensely, and want to be loved and cared for. what i’m saying is: andrew was once a kid who just wanted a home and family who would love him. andrew was once colloquially soft. andrew was a teenager growing up in horrible homes and who was incredibly upset and sad and probably cried about it, andrew was distressed enough that the only way he could give himself control it was to self harm, andrew was pissed and angry and so fucking destroyed by the events of his life. andrew was not born emotionless; that is the consequence of every single horrible, terrible thing that happened to him. life cut him down over and over and it led to him repressing his emotions enough he literally could not feel them anymore. andrew, if raised in a loving and supportive household, would not be the andrew he is in the books. his morals are the result of his upbringing.

tldr: andrew was a kid who felt emotions, regardless of how he later acts in the book series.

Andrew likes carving Neil’s name into things. Because playing with knives is an entertaining and intimidating hobby and he likes vandalizing things when he gets bored and he carves Neil’s name so Neil’s the one that will get in trouble if someone gets mad and not at all because he likes his boyfriend and is carving things for him.

Neil likes Andrew carving his name into things even though Andrew claims it’s to get him in trouble instead of him. Neil likes that he’s leaving a mark there like how he likes Dan’s pictures in the lounge. Neil Josten was here and real and maybe Andrew knows that means something to him and maybe that’s why he keeps doing it.
