If you have a UK address there is a gov.uk petition at the moment for an investigation into the effects of Section 28.

Section 28 banned the mention of or "promotion" of being gay within schools and ushered in decades of silence and violence in this country. Its impact is currently unrecorded, but keenly felt. With the UK currently banning the discussion of being transgender in schools, libraries and other public spaces, along with the bathrooms guidance, we run a risk of repetition. We need statistics on what Section 28 did to two generations of queer people.

i don’t think we the people of toxic bicci nation have properly entertained the idea of lister instantly sabotaging the relationship once it gets too real. like general consensus (at least in my echo chamber of mutuals + fic i’ve read) often seems to be that jimmy is kind of the one who establishes their fwb situationship as Casual ™ and at a certain point lister snaps because he’s like “i can’t keep pretending this doesn’t mean anything to me!” which is real, but may i point out that a) lister is avoidant attachment final boss who views all of his connections as ultimately temporary (because he feels unworthy of them) and b) he’s been harbouring his crush on jimmy for so long that the reality of that relationship cannot possibly meet the expectations of the fantasy. i think he should want it so desperately that it feels like he’s been set on fire, and then when it actually becomes reality he should immediately ruin it for himself.
