i’m going to preface this by saying that if you write any of the above as a way to work through similar trauma you’ve experienced in your life, this post doesn’t apply to you. i’m not a licensed psychologist, nor have i ever been, and my few years spent as a psychology major don’t give me the qualifications, or the right, to tell people what they can and cannot do in order to work through the experiences they’ve suffered through.

that being said, if you ship pedophilia, incest, or rape just because you like the idea of it, there’s no way around it—what you’re doing, and perhaps by extension, you, as a person, are disgusting. i know what you’re going to say. i’ve heard it for years, and i’m sure i’ll hear it for many more: “it’s just fiction! there’s no harm in shipping it because it isn’t real!” and i’m going to tell you why that that excuse is weak and moronic and is beginning to lose any impact it may have had in the past.

it’s not going to be nice, or vague, or sugarcoated, because i’m sick and tired of people getting away with thinking about and enjoying these topics and somehow operating under the belief that there’s NOTHING wrong with it. i’m sick and tired of other people excusing those actions and grouping it together with that “it’s just fiction” excuse.

i’m going to be using pedophilia as an example, because i literally see it everywhere and it’s disgusting that people derive such enjoyment from writing it, shipping it, and reading it. this doesn’t mean it’s the worst topic, or the most important. i’m under the firm impression that nobody should enjoy shipping pedophilia, incest, abuse, or rape, regardless of the circumstances or the people involved. shipping something and enjoying it is the equivalent of romanticizing / glorifying it. imagine what it does to victims of pedophilia, and rape, and incest, to see people writing these topics and loving it. how could you possibly relish writing these things when there are victims out there that have actually suffered through them? that have been seriously traumatized by going through this?

first of all, let me give you a heads up—just because you don’t enjoy it in real life doesn’t mean you’re free of any blame. you’re writing it. you’re reading it. you’re thinking about it at length, imagining it, and enjoying the picture of an adult that is, by every definition of the phrase, sexually assaulting a child. you are literally deriving some sort of pleasure from thinking about rape. you know who else enjoys thinking about assaulting children? real life pedophiles. rapists in the actual living, breathing world outside of tumblr savor the idea of having sex with minors.

this ties nicely into my next point, which is based on my own experiences. i’ve seen countless excuses / justifications about why shipping pedophilia is okay. a couple that really stuck with me because they’re just that awful are “they’re more mature than their canon age” and “they have a lot of chemistry with this adult, so how am i not supposed to ship them?” see where this is going? real pedophiles say that. real pedophiles misconstrue normal childhood behavior as being sexual in nature, think they’re being flirted with, and ACT on that supposed chemistry. let me tell you something—children can’t have chemistry with adults. they are children. unless they’ve literally been conditioned to be sexual—which yes, pedophiles also do in order to justify their actions—they don’t flirt with adults. i’ve spoken to sex offenders. i’ve talked to real people that are serving time because they believed in these reasons with their whole beings, and thought that their victims seemed older than they were, and were coming onto them. many of them didn’t think they deserved to be punished for acting on misinterpreted signals from children.

i’m not accusing anybody that ships pedophilia of being a pedophile, and i’m not accusing people that ship rape of being rapists. what i am accusing you of is thinking like pedophiles, and thinking like rapists, because that’s what you’re doing. your enjoyment of the thought of an adult sexually assaulting a child and trying to justify it with some repulsive explanation that real pedophiles use means you’re following the EXACT thought processes of REAL PEDOPHILES.

Having free time such as this was so rare and far in between that wasn’t entirely sure what to do with all of it. He had no intention of joining his squad in their sports nor if they went drinking with the rest. Such things held no interest for him and even discomforted him to a certain degree.

      The appearance of a fellow captain during a time like this was surprising, however, not disagreeable. He was unused to any requesting his presence outside work or a work-related instance. The exception to that being Rukia and Renji, his sister and his lieutenant, both being adequately occupied at the moment.                He let the words hang in the following silence for a moment -- his suggestion would be obvious to even the densest so he was certain that the captain before him understood what he was asking. He let a few beats pass before he spoke again. “ If you’re not busy, would you like to partner with me to train? ”
