2018: May: Week 1: Monday, May 7th, 2018: Coco (Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar, November 22nd 2017)

Greetings, and good morning, evening, or afternoon, people of all ages, races, and in all countries, and continents! I'm Francis August Valanzola, or as I should say for this post, yo soy Francis August Valanzola. And ay, yi, yi! Do I have a good one for you! Disney-Pixar's Coco!
Yes, the wildly popular film, Coco, is on my list today. Why? Well, I've got fans that like multiple things, and also, people that I know that, well, if I kiss up to both of those types, maybe they'll like the site, due to my honesty, or my skills, or both. One of them is my Spanish 2-B teacher from my current year of high school. (Yes, I'm in high school. 5th year, and final year. I failed online schooling, which caused me to do the rest in the next three years. My history classes split into the following 2 years, after the first year after I failed the online schooling. I'm currently 19 years old.) ANYWAY, I said I do requests, so she said Coco, and I agreed. Why? Well, one to try to get some memory of what that darn movie was all about. And, two, if she reads this, the teacher, Mrs. K. Reynolds, might think that when I work on these, they're actually useful. Plus, I might get a subscriber.
SO, without any further ado, let's see what this movie has to offer:
So, first off are the cultural aspects. I like how they used the marigolds in the literal sense, being a marigold bridge. In Mexican culture, the scent of the marigolds is what might drive them home. Plus the customs checkpoint. They use it, in a sense, to bridge cultures. Also the papel picado, those were the paper banners that were used as the intro.
Next are the characters. Miguel is very relatable. His family in the beginning goes againt his dreams, and wants him to go into the family shoemaking business. His grandmother offers him food, but when he declines it, she gets angry, asks him again, and gets happy after he says yes. The characters are overall very relatable to any family like this.
Next, the music. Yes, it gets in your head, with Poco Loco, and Remember Me, but they are good. I actually prefer Hector's version, because it comes from the heart.
Finally, the plot. People have said it's like The Book of Life, to the point of calling it plagiarism. But El Día de Los Muertos is just a small part of it. It's also about exposing a murderer, and about finding family, and the culture of México, plus no BULLFIGHTS, WOOD DOLLS, GODS OF LIFE, GODS OF THE AFTERLIFE, OR ARMY SOLDIERS WITH PINS OF IMMORTALITY! And especially, no love stories. The Book of Life was basically a bad Day of the Dead animated romantic comedy! Here, we get something Academy Award worthy! And they say it's plagiarism? I say that's a load of bull!
So, what do I think? I actually think it's the best Disney movie I've seen to date. And in the terms of Day of the Dead movies, this is my all-time favorite. I give this a score of 10 loaves of Pan de Muerto, or "Bread of the Dead", out of 10.
