Queens Poetry
The streets here are organized by name and syllable count, by the rumble and moan of tires over pot holes, the hushed cadence of the LIRR in the distance and the E and F below. They canvass Queens like a hand with fingers extended, reaching for yours.
Here is an interesting article about jiu jitsu, omission and everything in between by Gabriel Rodriguez, who has a great blog. Check it out here: http://languagefight.blogspot.com.au/
This moment in my Jiu Jitsu journey.
"So what, it's art" is not a valid excuse for racism or misogyny.
"If I waited for perfection I would never write a word." — Margaret Atwood
The Eagle Bull- Oxendine family is being sued by their child’s school for defamation, because they asked the school to permanently change their offensive and culturally insensitive Thanksgiving curriculum and to honor a two-year scholarship taken from their daughter after they voiced their concern over Native appropriation there.
They’re raising funds to defray mounting legal expenses. Please share this link and donate what you can. If they lose, we all lose. This case has the potential to set dangerous precedent where Natives are effectively gagged from speaking out against appropriation and the abuse of our culture and sacred ways by mainstream society. This is legal conquest. We can’t allow them to play Indian and hide behind judicial robes to do it. Thank you. Contribute here: http://www.gofundme.com/8f3z30
Contractually obligated to drink lots and lots of Rioja
Just back from a wine run of my own. And what should I see?
Poem (May 16, 2014)
On any street corner in Canandaigua,
the
winds
blow
the same.
Away.
They gesture toward Heaven before their trails run cold.

Poem (4/2/2014)
And so I haven't picked up the guitar in years.
And so I picked it up today, went all like, "C chord, E-minor chord, G chord" (always end on an uplift)
And so before I knew it, I had a progression.
And soon after that, I had words.
And so a song.
And so I picked up my pad (ok, ok, my laptop, you got me) and wrote my first poem in a week.
And so I went all like, "And so I haven't picked up the guitar in years"
And so was like, "And so I picked it up today."
And so before I knew it, I had a poem.
And so soon after that, I had a Poem.
And so I walked away from it, then came back and read it aloud.
And again.
And again.
And so now I have nothing.
very often i think of internet poetry and i think, damn. goddamn.
Good morning, world. (Been up for a few hrs now, but the Beags here cant hang)
Poem (3/18/2014)
This poem is a tuesday at heart.
It wants so badly to be a weekend day -
hell, it'd settle on being a thursday, "Thirsty Thursday"
to some, "Ladies Night" to many.
But no - face it, poem.
You are a tuesday through and through
and there's nothing wrong with that.
Tuesdays are wonderful for mid-afternoon strolls.
They are quiet and good and comfortable.
From a tuesday, we can see the weekend from either side.

The terms of the argument are a bit too absolutist for me. But I can't help but agree in some respects: thus the internal conflict I feel at having been (and continuing to be) a lifelong English major.
Hand Gel and Wrestlemania
The smell of this hand gel "for men" reminds me of Tommy cologne I wore when I was seventeen.
Wrestlemania reminds me of being seventeen and wanting to grow up to be The Rock.
True, I am not as rich and famous as he is, but my hairline is superior, my hands are sanitized, and I'm alive, and I'm alive, and life is beautiful.
