Living in the past...
Your past can be useful in helping you navigate your way through life, but it can also hold you back!
Far too many of us allow our pasts to hold us back relentlessly, to the point that we allow it to rule our lives, and thus never allowing us to fully enjoy the present moment.
And don’t get me started on regret. Regret is poison. It forces us to look back on the mistakes (especially the worst ones) that we have made in our lives and it torments us with the damage we caused (either to others or ourselves).
Here is thing with regret, retrospectively we know that we could’ve handled the situation differently, intellectually we know that we could’ve handled it differently, but... if we could’ve handled it differently, we would’ve done so.
You handled the situation in the best possible way you knew how at the time, so don’t punish yourself for it later down the line.
What’s done is done, you keep moving.
Time won’t snuggle you, or wait for you to remorse, but it will heal wounds, some just take longer than others.
