Hiatus

I think I’m going to be putting Vicky on an indefinite hiatus, guys.

It’s nothing against anyone!! It’s just my muse for her isn’t coming back as quick as I thought it would and it’s getting hard to write threads, so rather than force myself to write and produce choppy writing, I think it’d just be best to put this blog back on an hiatus ( except this time it’s actually announced. ) . I’ll leave the blog open so people can look through it, but I won’t be posting anything new for a while. 

Not to mention my grandma’s health is still deteriorating, so I really do think it would be best if I just left Vicky alone for a bit longer. I’ll come back at some point, just... not right now.

When Dr. Frankenstein returned from purchasing the drinks, she was smiling. It was a strange sort of smile - fond and familiar, as if she knew Elizabeth well and expected Elizabeth to know her in turn. As if they were old friends at the very least; something in Dr. Frankenstein’s eyes, though, seemed to suggest something more. Elizabeth wrapped her hands around her mug. 

“I get that a lot,” Elizabeth said. She didn’t. (Or, when she did, it was a bad pick up line.) She didn’t want to embarrass Dr. Frankenstein. “I must have a twin sister running around somewhere. Dr. Frankenstein, if we could, perhaps, return to your theory about Mrs. Sinclair-?”

        “The theory?” She took a few sips of her own drink. “Okay, so, er... the theory...” She mumbles, and then mutters what sounds like ‘shit’. She can’t remember her own theory. She thought the espresso she ordered would help, but perhaps she was too late. Damn it, Vicky.

      “Okay, so, you’re going to think I’m completely nutso when I say this-- but I really don’t remember my own theory.” She completely admits it. She’s mildly certain it’s because she had been staring so long at Elizabeth, and getting lost, and-- shit, damn it, Vicky. “And.. I’m sorry, do you happen to have any aspirin on you? I thought the espresso I ordered would help, but it appears that I may have gotten my caffeine fix a little bit too late for my body’s liking.” When did she start talking so formal, again?

         Eddie was no man of science. The GOOD DOCTOR in the Male Ward was however, so he laughed, dismissed her words like they were but clusters of FLIES surrounding rotting corpses and bodily fluids.

         “ Darling, no, of course it isn’t! This is love, chemistry—Between us, you see? ” And he gestured with a large hand between the rather VOID space between them, “ The only ‘ science ’ here is the science of LOVE. Polar magnets, attraction eminent—I adore you so. ”

         ( Caught she truly were, a fly in a spider’s web; really, there would be no way out. )

    She’s not entirely positive of how to word things. She’s heard a lot in the two centuries she’s lived; seen a lot, too. Never something quite like this. To say she was... uncomfortable was an understatement, but she’s got curiosity (idiot) a scientist is often doomed to have, and so she decides to play along. 

    “Oh, sure! I totally agree.” There’s a pause, and something clicks in that head of hers. It’s an urge she has been able to keep down, but hell, he doesn’t seem to care. Why should she? “Though, you know, if we really want to talk love-- why don’t we try raising the dead?”

Okay so, now would probably be a good time to do this so I can queue it

But tomorrow, and until May 19th, I will not be on until AT LEAST 4:30 U.S. EST. I may pop on here and there on mobile and the early morning, but my internship starts tomorrow! I go from 9:00-3:45, so if I’m up early enough, I may check on things in the morning. The reason I say 4:30, is, because, well, I don’t have my driver’s license due to money issues so my parents have to pick BOTH my sister and I up. But for now, assume that my activity will be low during those hours! 

Exceptions are: Weekends and Mondays ( we’re closed on Mondays ). I may have to come in on Saturdays if there’s special events! I’m really excited about this though so I’m going to try and limit my phone usage to my lunch time only UNLESS they give me permission to use it.

Pleasantly perplexed, Elizabeth nodded. She was not technically anyone’s “guest” - the cafe was neutral territory and this was a buisness meeting - but Dr. Frankenstein didn’t seem to be playing games, despite her unorthodox theory on the Sinclair murder. 

“Thank you. That’s kind of you,” Elizabeth said. “I hear they make the city’s best latte.”

That, at least, had been what the online reviews said. She’d scouted out a meeting place that would be quiet and comfortable - neutral ground with wifi access. 

(She was glad to be on neutral ground. Imagine being some place where she was less in her element! Talking about nonhuman murderers with a pretty scientist! She would have agreed to anything, would she not, if any more flustered. Indeed, she was already wondering if maybe Dr. Frankenstein wasn’t as crazy as she seemed or her name implied…)

     “You’re welcome.” Victoria gets this weird, half goofy smirk on her face. She buys their drinks-- the latte Elizabeth wanted and her own (which is really just a shot of espresso and creamer). She’s also flustered, even as she hands the other her drink and returns to her seat. She doesn’t even want to talk about murder, anymore.

      She just looks at Elizabeth for a moment. God, what would jog a memory buried so deep in time? A kiss was out of the question; they’d just met, and she didn’t want to have to explain herself to the police or get a restraining order. It wasn’t like all those movies, either. She’d just have to try her best, and hope to God that it does something.

    “Sorry for staring. You just... look really familiar,” she starts off, cautiously and gently. The last thing Vicky wants to do is scare the poor woman. “Though I know we haven’t met before until this instance. I guess that’s the crazy talking,” it’s a joke, but really-- some of that ‘crazy’ was still left in her. She had her garage locked for a reason, after all.

Elizabeth lifted a brow at Doctor Frankenstein. There were many things she wanted to say - that Ms. Lavenza or simply Elizabeth would do, that the zoo had not reported any missing primates, that the city was inhospitable to Bigfoot if such a thing existed and that she didn’t have time to waste on cryptids-

Was this an attempt at bribery - a drink in exchange for Elizabeth’s serious consideration of a ludicrous theory? Was it flirting? 

Elizabeth believed in altruism. Truly, she did. There were many things she did or had done for her for no other reason than because it was the right thing to do. But she did not believe in altruism in her law career. She was used to dealing with dubious witnesses. Dr. Frankenstein was hard to get a read on. She seemed… concerned and intelligent. She also seemed flustered. Above all, she seemed to be offering up conspiracy theories in a very real murder case. It was madness, wasn’t it? A dead end, at the very least.

“Say I let you buy me a drink,” Elizabeth said. “What is it you’ll want in return?”

  “Absolutely nothing. I figured if I was going to go buy myself one, I’d extend the offer to you.” That was half of a truth; she really didn’t want anything else other than to be in Elizabeth’s company for longer. She wondered if, maybe, she could trigger memories somehow. She had retained all of hers throughout the years, and if Elizabeth really was Elliot from so long ago-- how else would she be able to get her point across?

    Buying herself a drink had been a lie. She wasn’t thirsty, but it made her sound more convincing than just saying ‘nothing’. She could use a caffeine fix, anyways. She hadn’t had any since this morning, and she was starting to begin feeling dizzy. Or was that from the woman in front of her? “You... are my guest, in this sense, after all.”

Elizabeth peered at the photograph. Fingerprints? No one had fingers that size. Surely Dr. Frankenstein knew that. Even the largest of basketball players with their enormous hands still had fingers smaller than the perimortem bruising around Mrs. Sinclair’s neck. Elizabeth caught the corner of her lower lip between her teeth. 

Then she looked up at Dr. Frankenstein. Something in the other woman’s eyes made Elizabeth avert her gaze.

(God, it was warm in the cafe, wasn’t it?)

“I don’t mean to be indelicate,” Elizabeth said. “But unless you think a giant strangled Mrs. Sinclair, those cannot be fingerprints. I’m no scientist, but I have seen enough hands - and more than enough strangulation victims and domestic abuse victims - to know what kind of marks fingers leave. These are simple too large…”

    “ Ms. Elizabeth,” she responded with a different approach, then. “So maybe it wasn’t made by a human. I’m not saying it’s superhuman, or paranormal, or anything like that, but.. the window was open when they found her dead, correct? Something completely capable of climbing could have gotten in there and killed her. There’s many different animals that  have similar fingerprint typing to ours, and they’re absolutely massive  in size. Animals aren’t as easy to track as humans, too, and there’s so many different kinds we have yet to discover, it’s not an out of this world suggestion.”

      This is scary. She’ll outright admit it: it’s scary. If Elliot was really in front of her, only female, then, oh lord, she was going to have a lot of explaining to do (and also a whole lot of apologizing). She can tell it’s them; she knows it’s them. Their resemblance is almost too good to even be considered true. 

     “Uh, hold on, can I buy you a drink?”
