My mom helped me fight my chronic illness from onset to recovery. She helped me get ready for school when the arthritis in my hands was so bad I couldn't even dress myself, she held my hand for blood test after blood test, she always answered the phone and patiently explained to me what happened when I would get lost on the commute that I drove every day, she drove 14 hours just to see my last performance on trombone after the left side of my face became paralyzed and I threw in the towel on my musical career. She was always there with endless love and support and after nearly 4 years I'm healthy again. She set the perfect example for me to be a caregiver and you bet your butt we're going to kick this cancer's ass together. It's pretty bad, but I mean, so is the lady that birthed me without painkillers. I am so grateful for all the things she taught me about being brave, trusting my instincts and bringing my A-game whenever my family needs my help. Anyway, here's to all the moms and caregivers out there. Y'all make the world go round.
