my asexual cameron headcanons!!
Do you think Charlie was the one who punched Cameron because out of all of them Charli was the closest to Cameron. Everyone made fun of Cameron constantly -and it sort fo comes off as them secretly not liking him, at least not as much as they liked the others- but maybe Charlie did actually consider him one of his best friends and thats why he was the one that felt offended the most out of all of them, to others this was an annoying kid doing something annoying, to Charlie this was a betrayal
Reflecting on Cameron cause I heavily suffer with this:
Cameron finds it incredibly easy to become obsessed with things if they fit the right criteria. And if they do, he will absolutely love them. They’ll become his favorite thing, and he’ll talk about it nonstop.
That doesn’t mean everyone will listen to him nonstop. He’s been yelled at by each of the poets not to blab on about things because, frankly, they don’t care about it. And despite how upset it makes him, he stops.
He goes mute. He doesn’t share about his interests. I mean, why would he? If no one wants to listen, then he won’t share. There’s no point. Even if he does cry every night about it.
A negative about it though, is that it makes it harder for him to stick to his obsessions. He finds it hard to love it when he can barely talk about it. So he floats around, gaining interest in things but quickly losing it because he can’t vocalize that fact.
Cameron feels like he can’t enjoy anything because of it. And he hates it so, so much. It makes him wish he was just a robot, because then at least he wouldn’t worry about likes and dislikes. Just school and his future.
So he does. Doesn’t mean he’s happy.
no you dont understand im actually so insane about aroace cameron
I think the best way to explain my interpretation of Cameron, is to use a backyard analogy. Imagine, all the poets are currently at a party in a backyard, surrounding them are fenced from the other house. Those wooden picket ones from the movie.
Cameron thinks he’s on the opposite of the fence. For him, it feels like he’s not with the others at the party. Instead, he’s away, just able to see the fun but not able to join in. He’s doomed to stay on the other side because he wasn’t invited.
The poets on the other hand feel Cameron was invited. He just wants to go inside, rather than join them in the fun. He’s choosing to go be indoors rather than outdoors where they all are. Inside, sure there’s ac, but outside is where the people are.
Cameron thinks he won’t ever be able to become on of the poets. That he won’t be able to fit in. The poets think he doesn’t want to. So they let him leave.
I am a Cameron apologist first, everything else second
right this might be a bit of a reach yeah but hear me out
cameron being right in-front of Neil’s desk symbolising how even when he’s gone he still feels the pressure of what should be there and his ‘turn’ against Keating was him trying to take a more protective stance (such as defensively infront) to defend Neil by finding a blame that was logically less direct to Neil himself (blaming Neil is cruel and blood is too close, Keating is a step further away in physicality).
also, him holding the tradition banner and now reverting to the traditional role of doing as one should and discouraging anyone who suggests stepping out of line more avidly than before now that his first “rebel, rebel!” influence has inadvertently caused such a great loss in his life since he can only see the two as cause and effect when such consequences have came from the first time he really let loose from strict living
thinking about cameron who is so surrounded by romance during elementary school that, after he's tried to have crushes on so many girls, figures maybe he has a crush on a guy instead. at least that'd be something. cameron who gives the name of a popular guy in his grade when asked about his crush, and is subsequently bullied for the rest of the school year over something he isn't. cameron who begs to go somewhere else after sixth grade because it's so bad, because he's being called things he doesn't even understand, hell, the topic makes him uncomfortable too, but his parents won't let him, at least not until his freshman year. cameron who, at that point, is starting to think something is really wrong with him because he's tried both, even going so far out of his way to try something he knows is wrong, and all it's resulted in is a whole lot of nothing.
*sigh*
I miss Richard Cameron
"Neil was Cameron's only real friend" have u even seen Pitts. They r so cute. They r adorable. They're so besties. Wdym. There's a lot of scenes where whenever he's confused or concerned or happy he'll turn to check on Pitts it is so . Uehehehhe look at the besties.
