"Do I know you?"
The freckled girl tapped her lips, eyebrows furrowed in thought. "Ah, I can't say that you do! My name's Luna, though!"
{ ❥ —- 欲望 } — Barely grasping the brunette’s
rambling, Cecil folds her hands
together, behind the waist. Of course,
she wouldn’t dare look up for a
tantalizing feeling prickled in the back of
her head. Looking up, meant having to see
the tiny pin pricks of light that mocked her;
eyes that judged and glared upon Cecil.
”I see…” Skidding her feet along the ground,
she looks back over her shoulder again. ”So
you do this alone, hm? Just whenever you decide,
you go out and watch the sky? That seems almost
boring… if not lonely. Why are you alone anyways?
Is no one else going to watch the stars with you?”
Always used to leading conversations, being the one asked questions was quite refreshing, even if Luna couldn't answer them with total honesty. "Yep, that's about right. I mean, it's not lonely, per se..." The girl began, pausing to search after the right words. It wasn't lonely at all, because she was never truly alone.
Of course, Luna wasn't about to disclose that to someone she just met. Though Cecil herself seemed... Different, with a strange air about her, it was probably best not to take the leap of faith and risk sounding off her rocker to someone she had just met.
"I just don't have anyone to bring with me. I live here alone, and making friends is always a little difficult," Luna finally replied, choosing to omit the whole clairvoyant aspect of her situation. Turning to Cecil, the freckled girl added, "Sometimes the stars can be company too though, they can almost seem alive at times."

The cold never suited Luna, who had always preferred warm weather. It seemed foolish to leave her house in the first place when she knew how cold it was, but when the urge to roam seized her— there wasn't much Luna could do.
A hot chocolate would hit the spot right about now. Granted, Luna had no idea where there would be a cafe that sold hot chocolate, but considering she was lost most of the time anyway, wandering around didn't seem too bad, even if she would have to put up with the cold.
Of course, never one to look where she was going, the freckled girl turned on her heel and took a step forward, crashing right into another person. "Oh!" The girl exclaimed as she nearly took a tumble, managing to steady herself just in time. "I'm sorry, that's all my fault, I'm never looking where I'm going." Luna's apology was rushed on account of her near slip to the pavement, though she managed to pause and slow herself. "Are you okay?" The brunette asked the stranger with concern.
h e a d c a n o n ; Luna isn't an overly prideful person, but she is extremely cocky when it comes to Victoria's ability to protect her. A common phrase that escapes her is, "I'm not afraid of much anymore," mainly because she wholeheartedly believes that her 'guardian angel' can protect her from pretty much everything.
While this faith isn't necessarily misplaced, since Victoria will do all that she can to protect her, if Luna doesn't realize that an opposing force is more powerful than her guardian, she may face serious consequences if Victoria is overpowered.

It was never difficult to identify spirits among a crowd. Whether it was an innate part of the ability itself or developed over years of seeing Duel Monsters, Luna could spot them at the tip of a hat. It wasn't uncommon either, as she had come to realize that spirits were practically everywhere in the city.
Demanding chirps and tugs from some of her own spirits— You Gellenduo are so bossy! Stop pulling my hat!— had led her to the little spellcaster. Rather than speaking a greeting, since the surrounding crowd would think it odd for her to seemingly be talking to herself, the girl opted to wave at the spirit instead, hoping it wouldn't be frightened by the two rambunctious ones circling her head.
'I'm obviously a faerie, hence the hair. It doesn't bother me that you stare, though. I'd give you my faerie name but I'm a little hungover so I'm not witty enough to come up with one. Call me Kyler, though.'
He pointed a finger at her face, tilting his head to the side. She was cute, and look at all those freckles. Freckles were always charming.
'I'm jealous of the freckles. I've always wished I had some.'
"A faerie?" Luna blurted in astonishment, believing his first words to be true, at least until he elaborated further. It seemed a foolish thing to fall for, but the girl laughed nonetheless— she had certainly experienced stranger things, and discovering a faerie didn't seem all that far fetched anymore.
"Kyler," Luna repeated, amiable smile lacing her features. "Interesting name! It's nice to meet you," She remarked, focusing on him as his next statement caught her off guard. Not everyone commented on her freckles straight away— though she had started the conversation in the same manner, pointing out a feature without hesitation, it always seemed rare to meet someone who would do the same.
She was quite pleased with the compliment however, and Luna grinned in sheer joy, hands reaching to her cheeks. "Thank you! I like them a lot too! Oh!" She exclaimed suddenly, hands still on her face. "I didn't introduce myself! I'm Luna," the brunette said, extending a hand to him in greeting. "Does anyone call you Kai, by the way?" She asked, already contemplating nicknames to give to her new acquaintance.
In her mind, the girl in front of her was an angel; not many people were like her, and Ena felt that she did not deserve to actually meet her. She was very sure she had done many sinful things in her life, such as slapping her friend with a handkerchief.
Ena gulped, hesitating if she should really introduce herself.
It’s not like we’ll ever meet again, right? It wouldn’t matter, right? …Right?
But the girl, Luna, introduced herself, so it must be a good sign that she would not regret being friends with her. Probably.
Bad at socializing as she was, Ena would try her best to make it right this time.
"…Ena," she said as she avoided her gaze.
"I’m Ena."
"Ena," The freckled girl repeated, a habit born of her time first spent learning the language, when she couldn’t always wrap her voice around the pronunciations correctly. There was an importance to names and pronouncing them right, and though Luna now had no problems with working through the syllables of the tongue, especially with such a short name, it was a ritual that had stuck with her. "I think that’s a lovely name!"
The other girl seemed hesitant in engaging in conversation with her, but Luna was more than willing to pick up the slack. “I am actually kind of lost,” She admitted with a sheepish grin. “I was looking for this antique store, a real hole-in-the-wall sort of place. I forgot the name…” She trailed off, tapping a finger against her lip as she attempted to recall the store's name.
An effort made in vain, and Luna gave a good-natured laugh. "I forget things like that a lot, I'm always getting lost! Does the description I'm giving maybe ring a bell?"
❜Well, I guess I should take that as a compliment,❜ he chuckled, his pseudo intellectualism cracked to reveal his true nature, ❜Interesting, you say? I must keep an eye out for it.❜
Hazel eyes flickered to catch the conflicting balance of emotion on her face, and glimmered at the effect his mere presence had on this seemingly mortal human. Though, he did notice something particularly strange, but he did not heed it has alarming enough to care.
Ah, he had missed this. But alas, human contact always left him with a muddle of strange conflicting emotions which he could only describe as - yeuch - empathy and a migraine. Inhabiting such a ‘gentle; (weak) host drained him occasionally, if he were honest, and he wished that he could have chosen a less kind person to possess, despite the closeness to not one but two of those rare items in one having been quite worth the trouble.
And he did pay for renting out his body by keeping him out of the way of those ghastly card game playing thugs who had dared to bump into him.
❜Seems like a good way to pass the time, I suppose.❜ His tone was clearly an obviously less interested, at the realisation that she did not have what he was looking for.
Nevertheless, her knowledge of the ancient times did manage to spark something in him that convinced him to humour the girl. After all, it wasn’t every day that he met a modern day human being who could recognise a symbol older than himself.
❜You have a keen eye, I see. This item is more valuable than any item that you could sell for mere money - no offence to you, that is. It is older, even than myself, and that’s saying something.❜
Confused as to why he was sharing so much with her, he continued with his much rehearsed monologue, being quite a boaster.
❜It’s far too rare an item to be damaged by something so unreliable as ageing or physical damage.❜
Victoria’s boiling distrust and sudden aggression seemed more understandable now— the presence of such malicious darkness definitely warranted such a reaction. The sensitivities of Luna’s nature allowed her to pick up on just how menacing the hanging darkness was, though she couldn’t quite be sure whether it was attached to the artifact, the person, or both. Regardless, both curiosity and politeness kept her bound to the conversation, smiling demeanor refusing to betray her new weariness. If things went sour, then she would turn tail and run. Currently, however, Luna got the impression that she was not in immediate danger despite the malignant presence, so long as she played her cards right.
Her correct identification of the stranger’s pendant seemed to have prompted a more interested response, and Luna thanked her lucky stars that it had been something ancient and not contemporary, as that would have likely ended in a mistaken classification and perhaps a more irritated answer. She chuckled, and waved him off, “Trust me, I believe it. Looks priceless, considering its condition.” Although his following comment through her off— why wouldn’t the pendant be older? The stranger looked around her age, and clearly much younger than an ancient artifact. But then, that was from what she could see.
Darkness has been present since the beginning.
This revelation didn’t clarify concretely whether it was him or the pendant affected by the darkness, though Luna was becoming more convinced that both were tied to it somehow. “Far too rare?” She echoed, sounding not entirely certain of how rarity could guard an artifact, though a supernatural ‘rarity’ of the object would explain its undamaged appearance. It seemed the stranger was being vague on purpose, and Luna knew better than to press this time.
"It is incredible though! Amazing what the past can offer us now," She started, still approaching the conversation with a genuine curiosity and amiability. "Was it passed down in your family, or…?" A valid question, as it was highly unlikely that he himself was an archeologist who discovered the item. "Oh, geez, I’ve got no manners," The freckled girl remarked suddenly, offering a handshake with a smile. "Maybe I should introduce myself before asking those questions. I’m Luna."
"Yeah… You can only imagine all the hours someone spent on carving the details." He murmured, knowing from own experience it was not this easy to work with wood. Ryou’s eyes with admiration wandered around the patterns for a while more. Noticing few little defects on the surface, a slight frown crossed his face- but still- considering age of the item it shouldn’t be a surprise that dents were on it.
As Luna mentioned consulting the clerk, boy finally took a look towards the cashier. It was a reasonable thinking, that he should know somewhat about the items he sells. But what about the ones he didn’t sell… Remembering his reasons of coming to this place, Ryou began to wonder if this person could be really any help for him… Could anyone even tell him more about the pendant he owned…? Doubts slowly appearing, but he just ignored them for now.
"You should ask if you are curious." Ryou smiled to the girl. The desire to know history of own property - he could understand it well. "Who knows, maybe it was made by a popular artist of that time, or maybe one of the previous owners was someone famous" The sentence ended with boy’s slight chuckle. Of course he guessed it didn’t really matter as much as just the fact of knowing the story of the item.
His assumptions came to be true, and Luna already decided on buying the box. They barely even entered into the shop though…” I wonder, maybe we could check some other sections?” He asked politely. “I’m still not sure if I’m going to buy something today, but wouldn’t it be a waste to not browse through the other things since we are here?”
Despite that mention of rpgs immediately made him think of past week events, it was actually not a bad idea to search for pieces he was able to use in his works later. ”It depends, honestly.” Ryou started to slowly move forward to some other part of the shop. “I used to… buy finished boards from the game store, and add my own touches depending on the campaign-” Weak smile crossed albino’s face as image of even older memory appeared in his mind.
Ryou slowed down even more, until he finally stopped, awkwardly turning around to the girl. ”Ah- No no-” He waved his hand quickly “I’m not in rush or anything, and-” There was a short pause. “I’m having fun-“
Luna grinned widely, and gave a giggle at the idea. “Maybe! That’d be quite the discovery,” She replied, actually judging the thought to be feasible even if Ryou seemed to be joking. It certainly wouldn’t be the strangest thing to appear in an antique shop. Once again inspecting the box, the girl spoke uncertainly, “I think the carvings look Russian?” It was less a question directed to Ryou and more one mused aloud, though she quickly returned to conversation. “Ah, I’m not that great at classifying modern things, but I would guess that it’s Russian, or at least Russian-influenced.”
The boy's voice called her attention away from her analysis of the old box, and she turned to look at him. His response to her suggestion of leaving was what she had been hoping for— it wasn’t like she wanted their excursion in the shop to come to an end. It also more or less reassured Luna that she wasn’t boring her new friend, which was a welcome discovery. "That’s true! I probably shouldn’t be so hasty," She replied with a grin, tucking the box under her arm. "And I’m really glad you’re having fun! I am too." That much was true, Luna couldn’t actually remember the last time she went to an antique store with company.
"I’ll just ask the clerk about the box when we check out then. He’ll probably be able to classify its origins better than me!" It was a half joke, one that she ended with a chuckle, but quite true— Luna’s knowledge of more contemporary styles was less practiced than that of older, archaic ones. Newer techniques always blended together in her memory, but styles of old were always distinct, perhaps the result of her spirit partner’s influence. But of course, she wasn’t an expert, and was eagerly awaiting to have the clerk confirm or correct her guess.
"Oh!" She exclaimed. "You had been talking about your RPGs, right." The sudden recall of their former topic seemed a good place to go from of as they continued looking through the store. "You used to make your own boards, yeah? Was there any particular group that you played with? I mean, correct me if I’m wrong, but RPGs are multiplayer, right?" She asked curiously, scanning another shelf of items that hadn’t quite caught her intrigue. "I’ve never actually played, but it sounds really interesting. If you ever host another game, let me know! I’d love to join in."
The freckled girl paused for a moment, and reassessed. There wasn’t much that was catching her eye— probably because of the limited amount of money she could spend— but that wouldn’t necessarily prevent her from looking for things that Ryou could use. "So what sort of things would you usually look for to modify for your ‘campaigns?’" Luna started again, a little unsure if she was using the terminology correctly. The girl couldn’t help but laugh. "You can tell I don’t know much about this sort of thing! Still though, I’m sure we can find something around here."
