Itās like a ghost town right now.
I don't know... it's kind of nice around here when things are this quiet.
Trying to apply for universities is the hardest thing in the entire world.
I suddenly feel like I have three feet and just stuck them all in my mouth. Sorry.
Hey, don't worry about it. I'm kinda glad that you didn't know... most people at our school were gossiping about it for days.
He was an alcoholic that had several extramarital affairs⦠Iām not really sure how that makes him cool, butā¦okay.
Well everyone has their vices, don't they? I was in a mental hospital and drank a lot not too long ago but I'm still an interesting person.Ā
Well, all of his novels are a little autobiographical in certain ways, so yeah. You could say that.
Really? That's interesting. I really need to start paying attention more in English class.Ā
Fitzgerald was a cool guy, I know that he was always one of my uncle's favorites.
Ah, hi. Itās Tender Is the Night. Itās the wildly underrated Fitzgerald novel.
Ooh, isn't that the one that's based on his own experiences? I don't really have much time to read anymore but it's been on my reading list for a while.Ā
valentines for rejects {freddie and liesel}
As Liesel came crashing down on top of Freddie, she felt the wind get forced out of her lungs. Trying to catch her breath and lying on top of the boy who had brought her here, she stared at Freddie. It was strange to be lying here on this boardwalk in the dead of night, both freezing but both as happy as could be. The most physical closeness she had gotten lately was the occasional punch on the arm for Rudy-it wasnāt enough. She wanted to spend late nights curled up next to her papa again, mornings spent doing dishes and rubbing elbows with Mama, lazy afternoons in the basement reading stories with Max. She had a support system in Molching, a group of people that she could rely on. All that she had left now was Rudy, and she found herself feeling that hole in her heart more and more as the days went by, instead of less and less.Ā
Her heart skipped a beat as Freddieās hands ran over her body, her waist tingling in the spots his fingertips touched. She nodded. āYes, I think Iām alright.ā She started to laugh as Freddie continued to speak, thinking about their situation. If someone walked by, they most certainly would get the wrong idea. Damn teenagers, unable to keep their hormones in check, rolling around in the snow covered ice of the boardwalk. She looked back down at Freddieā¦and realized how good looking he was. Honestly, she hadnāt noticed until now, but now that she saw it, she couldnāt stop seeing it. Liesel licked her dry lips, her hands on Freddieās shoulders, her body spread out on top of his.
Before she could over think it, she leaned down and pressed her lips against his.
From the moment that Freddie felt Liesel relaxing into his body, he felt a warm tingly feeling rising within him. It came from a deeper spot where the sun hadnāt shone in a while, the area where his tenderness resided. He had very little use for that anymore considering no one gave him the chance to be loving and tender towards them. This feeling only seemed to intensify when he felt Lieselās lips collide with his. It was a different than any kiss that he had shared before. There was something new here. Maybe it was the feeling of longing that made this kiss so unique. In one simple kiss he could tell that they both needed this kiss, that they both desperately needed someone to be close to. Once reality sunk in the boy reached up to delicately cup the girlās hand with his cheek, his lips moving slowly against hers in an effort to savor the moment.
There was nothing that could have possibly made this moment any better. In fact, he wanted to memorize everything about it ā the feeling of her unblemished skin against his rough hand, the taste of her soft lips, even the scratchiness of his own pea coat. His free hand slowly began to move through her curls, playing with the strands aimlessly. He needed to feel as if she wasnāt going to disappear from him like most people had in the past.Ā
Hey there, what'cha reading?Ā
valentines for rejects {freddie and liesel}
Freddie could see the look in her eyes. Liesel could tell with the light of recognition that turned on behind his irises. Itās not like that mattered much anyway. What mattered was here and now, not grayscale memories of narrow, cobblestone streets filled with kids playing football as snow fell softly down from a perpetually cloudy sky. She shook the thoughts from her head. This was her home now, and if she was ever going to be able to think of it as the place she would be spending the rest of her life, she had to stop thinking about Molching so often. She had to put down roots here-she had to become a tree. Not just any tree-an oak tree with wide spreading branches and a root system that went down for miles and intertwined with other trees. Otherwise, she wouldnāt make it here.
The crashing sound of salty water against the beach pulled Liesel back to reality, and she smiled. She had never seen any sort of beach before Ā (unless you counted the small ring of sand around the pond in Molching, which she didnāt) and even though it was freezing and it was the middle of the night, Liesel was excited. She didnāt think that she would be able to see the water in the darkness of the night, but she could hear the ocean, and that was enough for her. When Freddie bowed, Liesel laughed and stepped carefully onto the wood of the boardwalk.
"You really havenāt?" she asked, turning back to him with an eyebrow raised.Ā He must really want to impress me.Ā Liesel was feeling a lot more special now than she was before. She smiled at him, turning back around, before slipping on some ice. With a yelp, she started to fall backwards.
āNope, youāre the very firstāā
The boyās words were cut off when he realized that Liesel had found her way onto a patch of ice. Without hesitation the boy quickly rushed to catch her in mid fall, wrapping his strong arms around her waist for support before he tumbled down onto the ground. Luckily, when he landed on the wooden paneling of the boardwalk he created some sort of cushion for Liesel as he brought her down on top of him. For a moment the brunette just laid there staring up into Lieselās eyes for a moment, trying to catch his breath from having the wind knocked out of him. While he cursed himself in his head for being such a klutz, he couldnāt help but feel comfortable here. It had been a while since he had been this physically close with someone and it was honestly refreshing.
A few moments passed before Freddie realized that this was probably a bit awkward for his ādateā. With a sheepish smile he slowly moved his hands down her waist, almost as if he was making sure that she was in one piece. Even though Liesel seemed like the type of girl who could handle herself, he still had a habit of worrying about people that walked into his life. āAre you alright?ā The words fell from his lips in a breathy voice, partly due to the cold and the other half due to the fact that he had just fallen onto the frozen ground.
āThis was exactly my idea of impressing you, but sometimes I forget how icy it can get up here in the winter time.āĀ
I've been sleeping in a lot lately.
You can never sleep too much!
I wish that were true. Sometimes when I just spend the whole day sleeping I wake up and I'm groggy for what seems like the entire week.
I donāt. Itās cold as fuck.
[a sigh escapes his lips] You're probably right, do you want to head inside and make hot chocolate or something?
I think the only good thing about Valentineās Day is the discount chocolate.Ā
Preach, brother.
[lying in a freshly made snow angel]Ā Oh, my oncologist is going to destroy me.
[he lays down beside Gus in the snow, making a snow angel] It feels so nice out here. I wish we could stay here forever...Ā
Got the internship. Iām somewhat prepared to never sleep again.
I'm not sure if I should congratulate you or not...Ā
