embracing the weird back when freddy was a little girl wasn’t as cool as embracing the weird these days. being born into that one strange family on the edge of town, in an old house full of nothing but children and their mothers who read palms and tarots for a living, wasn’t so cool... at least to her. she hated being made fun of in school and being mockingly asked to tell a “prophecy”. she hated not being able to make friends without one of them asking her to read a palm. if anything, freddy never even believed in those things.
sure, growing up in a family with their own set of superstitions was... relatively normal. and freddy went along with those simple, silly beliefs. things like breaking a mirror or sitting at the corner of the table bringing bad luck, or burning sage to cleanse a room. but the moment it came to learning all about bigger things like tarots, zodiacs, and palm reading, freddy wanted out. it creeped her out how much her grandmother could find out about a person from just pulling some colorful pieces of intricately drawn old pieces of paper.
freddy’s teenage years were the prime time where she made it obvious that she didn’t agree with her family’s beliefs. she started to rebel and try so hard to be different from them. she had a big change of style, and started to get more into the things she was truly into. she was that one emo kid in all black in a house full of hippies. and in an attempt to annoy them, she bought an electric guitar with her saved up money, and would practice in the basement really loudly. funnily enough, she was born into the most accepting family ever, and all they did was applaud her and support her interests. freddy didn’t like that, but she still kept doing whatever she wanted to do with a few attempts to piss someone off. that person was usually her mother.
despite being the way that she is with her family, that didn’t mean that she had anything against them or hated them. in fact, she might’ve been part of the youngest generation, but she had such a big sister vibe to a lot of her cousins who were younger than her, along with her younger brother. freddy was in charge of watching the kids when they were left home alone or when her mother and aunts were busy working. she would hold little concerts for them or have movie nights in pillow forts that they built together. she would even get so protective of them to the point where she would leave all her morals behind to fight a bully or two for them. freddy is a very selfless person, and although she has her opinions about her family, she still loved them very much. the more she grew up, the more thankful she was for being born into a big, supportive family.
after finishing high school, freddy didn’t want to attend a college. especially not when she couldn’t afford it. instead, she decided to pursue another one of her interests: cosmetology. freddy was always the person in the family her cousins would go to for makeup tips, or hair dye jobs, and she was more than happy to practice on them all those years. she went to cosmetology school to learn to be a hair stylist, and only recently graduated to become a junior stylist at the local salon. and now that she’s grown up, she grew out of her dark emo phase, and definitely could pass as a melrose once again with the soft hippie style she adopted (although she still dresses p emo sometimes lmaoo). freddy is still very much in love with music and writing songs, though. only recently she joined nico’s new band as a guitarist, and she finds it fun and a great outlet whenever she didn’t have to work.
