Scott laughs, it’s bitter but he’s laughing all the same. “Those Sentinels wouldn’t have been sent for us if I didn’t show my power levels on live TV. I was willing to kill him, hell, I think I even wanted to. And you know what? I’m not okay with that. That Act made me do things I never wanted to do, but I had to do them to get us to safety.” He takes a spot across from him, standing with his arms crossed over his chest. “I take fault Steve, and I need you to accept that, because it won’t change. I may have gotten everyone else out of there, but I’ve lost people before. Three in fact. I’ve lost three teammates under my command, and while I wasn’t in charge of you or the people you brought to our camp, only the mutants, I could have made that situation better for everyone. I brought the consequences down on us, and I’m sorry, that’s all I’m here to say.”
“They had our information. They had all of SHIELD’s files. They knew what all of you were capable of.” Steve countered, moving to sit on the bench. “You can take fault all you want but it wasn’t on you. You messed up, sure, I’m not denying that--but the sentinels were coming one way or another.” he added, shrugging slightly. “Someone needed to die, it was the only way it was gonna end. I’m okay with that being me.” he sighed quietly, removing the wrap from his knuckles.
