Sergeant “Ripper” Jackson of the Catachan Veterans. Quite enjoyed this burly ma’am, and the return to the Militarum gave me a chance to practice more sedated colours on a Citadel mini and the camo pattern on her pants. Her miniscule features were oddly easy to apply, even her eyeball that I got right on the first pass. I was honestly shocked that I got it right so quickly.

Her heavily decorated base was a treat to detail, along with all the Catachan creepy crawlies that necessitate keeping your long pants tucked into your heavy boots.

Idk where you're getting those numbers. It's predicted that up to a one quarter to a third of the country could be underwater by the end of monsoon season.

Nearly 500k homes have been destroyed and as of this article published this morning, August 29th, more than 3.1 million have been displaced.

Just finished painting this miniature. Still have to sort out a base for it but feeling pretty proud.

This is the first miniature I’ve worked on where the whole colour scheme and paint selection was from scratch. And in the process I’ve learnt some new techniques (at this stage all techniques are new to me)

Society really couldn’t function without them. Anthropologist Robin Nagel did this fabulous ethnography of NYC sanitation workers called Picking Up where she actually became a sanitation worker herself. In NYC alone, there’s fewer than 10,000 sanitation workers dealing with a daily load of about 11,000 tons of garbage and 2,000 tons of recycling. It’s a more dangerous profession than firefighting or police work (cops and fire aren’t even in the top ten most dangerous jobs in the US), and if the sanitation workers aren’t able to do their jobs, cities become unlivable overnight.

(Also you should read that Robin Nagel book, it’s really fascinating. Even if you don’t live in a city, it’s a great read.)

Another figure down from my pile of shame!

Never really watched Hellboy, but he looks really cool, so now he's on my shelf :D

Also, he was an excuse to try and get a process for leather down, which I've been playing with for a bit. I really like how it turned out, though I could definitely work on making it a bit smoother.
