▬ mister ancient:
Esper’s smile keeps widening, though it’s far from the usual leers or jagged grins. This being– no, person, as much as Esper hesitates to admit it, has a similar aura as Mother.
Like chiming bells in a gentle breeze on a sunny summer day.
He regrets not visiting sooner, but the feeling of… what is it churning in his stomach right now? happiness? surprise or a dash of gladness? He isn’t sure. But he can’t even pretend to not be touched that Blühen had acknowledged his absence.
“i strive to be the best. maybe one day i’ll disappear completely, haha.”
He’s a little envious of his other self, the one who gets to see this Ain on a regular basis. Then again, nothing’s stopping him from vising as often as he wishes.
“but, would it be bad to say i did just want company, mister angel?”
it’s unusual, in truth. the way those lips curl & reveal not the peaks of an unsound mind, but that closer to who add once was. was, likely long before they have both crossed paths with their party. an idea which bestows weight onto his chest─digs into the back of his mind like a weed. growing, and growing, and growing the more ain is allowed presence of what others do not see. it’s a rare mood to witness from someone otherwise so ill-tempered, and though learned habit bids inquiry... he decides against it.
it isn’t his business, after all.
“ i’ve more than enough knowledge to know that wouldn’t happen. “
the faux priest’s smile does not falter; does not waver nor does it dissipate from his face. even as his secret lay bare from the other’s mouth, uttered so nonchalantly & without regard, ain remains content. he is no more ready to resort to the petty behaviour of someone rightfully clinging to their seclusion & secrecy. add is aware of what ain is, just the same as ain is aware of where add is from. that was the origins of their prior disputes, was it not? how one had just enough to keep the other quiet. now─now, however...
though he does not delve into details, ( does not express the complexities of his nature and role ) ain takes the other’s knowledge as a blessing. it soon became more of a relief than a hassle to speak with add. perhaps their circumstance is what it would mean to have a genuine understanding of another.
“ i don’t mind at all, though. it’s nice to have company with a familiar face, is it not? have you been well? “

“ain.”
Esper’s form, lanky and long as it is, drapes itself across nothing, dangerously close to hitting the ceiling with his eccentric movements. A sigh leaves his lips, just before they curl up into a smile. Such a tranquil expression is much too rare on his face.
“i must say-- i adore visiting your timeline. everything is so much... calmer.”
He’d never admit it out loud, for fear of his ‘real’ companions overhearing, but it is the truth. There is no such peace as crashing through Blühen’s wall knowing full well there would be no real consequences to bear.
is ain put off by the sudden appearance? no─far from. too used to the coming and goings of the enigma which add has become, ain no longer bats so much as an eyelid when he does arrive.
“ ─mister ancient. hello. “
he’s hard-pressed to respond with his ever-present jovial attitude; as if rain nor sleet would expose what nature lie beneath a goodnatured smile. equally is it habit as it is purely genuine. peridot rises to greet the other. once more does he take in the peculiarity which engrosses & wraps it’s form across esper’s figure. every time ain sees him, ( and perhaps it’s merely in his own mind that it is such ) he cannot dismiss the idea that add continues to appear differently to him. each day, each passing encounter, add─for lack of better explanation─simply seemed like a different person.
... but perhaps he, too, is no longer the same as he once was. even days prior; ain’s own daily experience causes him to change as well. he is not as he was yesterday, in much the same way add was not.
“ it’s been some time since i’ve seen you last. you’ve gotten good in disappearing lately. “
a gentle chime of humour hangs dangerously at the tip of his tongue as he fully addresses the other.
“ is there something you needed, or were you simply looking for company? “

it’s true but you shouldn’t say it
“ i’m saying it. “
“ why do you think he had to make a deal with a demon, mister ancient? he’s never had tact to begin with. “

▬ sorey:
& this ‘Seraph’ responds in the same way many Seraphim have over the course of his adventure – a touch of genuine surprise at being seen where humans often simply passed right through them. That had, after all, been their reality for a very long time, Sorey thought.
It must’ve been a jarring sort of thing for the ‘Seraph’, gazing at Sorey in some manner or another as if he were misplaced, or even a foe. Sorey lightly rubbed the back of his neck with an apologetic expression, his smile becoming more sheepish in nature.
“Sorry about that. To… Be totally honest, I’ve never heard of Velder!”
That wasn’t a great sign. He couldn’t remember where he’d been before this, but perhaps it was a similar case like Sophie or Jade’s. Well, that was going to take some explaining & then… He had to figure out how to get back.
“I’m beginning to think I might be really… really far from home.” Sorey said in a soft, almost defeated sounding tone. More than anything, he was hoping Lailah, Rose, and everybody all were okay.
“…Oh, right! My name’s Sorey, by the way! I think I’ll probably need to get pointed that direction so I can regroup and figure out what to do from here.”
he isn’t sure how he should respond. how he should take the realisation that he is not merely coexisting with the background, never to be seen or remembered while he remains in this state. he breathes; a short exhale pressed between a line that speaks for him. ( he is weighing his options ) he is caught off guard and is now unsure of how to proceed─yet, there is something. something to his situation that bade him to resist his impulse, to offer assistance and not turn the other away. perhaps it is his being around another who approaches others so similarly which inclines ain to do the same.
he humours the feeling, and goes with it.
“ that’s alright. it seems to happen a lot here. “
too much, if ain is being honest.
a smile is slow to pull at his lips & yet when it arrives, it is in full bloom. his feet come to rest on the ground below, and ain regards sorey fully. not as a potential threat, but that of a friend.
“ sorey, was it...? my name is ain. “
“ i can lead you to there myself, if you would like. it’s not too far away. maybe from there, we can figure out where you’re wanting to go and get you there. “
