flins is well aware of his comrade's little crush on you. what does he do about it? flirt shamelessly until illuga can't stand it anymore.

first and probably last post on this account. had this in my drafts since illuga's release. definitely not proofread </3
flins has taken up a nasty habit of flattery in your presence.
its not like his sugarcoated words are uncharacteristic of him— no, he is no stranger to the art of inflating peoples’ heads. yet, illuga seems to notice this problem with his fae comrade worsening when he’s around you.
he catches the two of you one morning outside of piramida's headquarters. flins takes that opportunity to bee-line straight to you upon seeing who you were accompanied by.
“ah- good morning. it is wonderful to see you again, my lady,” flins dips his head towards you in a small bow before taking your hand to bring it up to his lips, “it seems to me that your beauty only amplifies upon each meeting.”
his lips linger on your knuckles all while his gaze flickers to illuga’s in a split second; something illuga would’ve missed if he wasn’t acutely keyed in, watching his every movement in skepticism.
the interaction causes illuga to hover a little closer to you; the tiniest hint of a smirk lifting on flins’s already cordial smile.
somewhere along the interaction he clenches his fists at his sides, less than patiently waiting for the ratnik to wrap up his pleasantries.
you subconsciously lean away from the lightkeeper but do your best to mimick his smile.
“thank you, sir flins.” you retract your hand, “but i must say, you don’t need to say that every time we see each other.”
a chuckle plays at the fae’s lips upon your callout.
“oh, but that fact remains true every time i see you, my lady.”
you shake your head with an exasperated smile while illuga huffs and suppresses an eye roll.
“what brings you to piramida? today is your day off, is it not?” he questions rather stiffly through gritted teeth.
flins sighs in mock consideration for his response.
“who says i can’t pay a visit to my dear friends?” his eyes keep finding his way back to you, “it does get quite lonely at the graveyard.”
his saccharine tone of longing and mischief is not lost on either of you. and thats exactly what fully forms the true smirk that was previously only ghosting on his features.
“perhaps you should give me a visit?” flins closes in as his blatant forwardness finally gets to you.
you open your mouth to give a stuttered response. yet, thankfully before a sound can escape, illuga answers for you.
“that’s enough, sir flins.” formalities sounding strained with a scoff. a forced smile is clear on his face, though it is clear flins was successful in his plight to push his buttons. “we have a patrol to get to. enjoy the rest of your day off, but we must get to our post.”
illuga gets snappy when he’s in a bad mood. he’s curt with his words and blunt in his actions, so it shouldn’t surprise you when he swiftly grabs the very hand flins had kissed and pulls you away from your shared companion- the very man who smiles knowingly at the two of you walking in a direction no where near any of the patrol routes.
he whisks you away to a quieter part of the city, further away from the hub of ratniki who pass about on their daily routines throughout piramida and tucked away behind a few supply crates.
he runs his fingers through his hair when you two finally stop, sighing in disbelief.
he should be used to this by now, he knows it was just teasing. yet the simple thought of flins taking you away from his side has him thinking irrationally.
you haven’t seen illuga so worked up in a while, especially not over something as small as a conversation with another lightkeeper. you don't mind the current look on his face-- ears turning pink and lips forming a pout he doesn't even realize is there.
“sorry about that. sir flins can be a bit-“
“-eccentric?” you finish his sentence, expectantly.
he breathes out a small laugh.
“yeah, you could say that. an eccentric shameless flirt.”
the combination of his wording as well as his annoyance earns a giggle from you as well.
“its okay, im getting used to it.” your shrug brushes off every word flins has ever said to you with a single action, yet illuga isn’t willing to let it go as easily.
“you shouldn’t have to.” he mumbles low enough for you to question if you even heard him correctly. but you do. and it causes you to suppress a knowing smile of your own.
“and why wouldn’t i?” you press him, tone light. you try not to tease him too much after flins had done most of the work for you.
“i-“ illuga’s focus shifts to the side, trying to piece together his rationale but finally realizing how dumb this all is. he has no clear reasoning to give you.
“you know what, its nothing.” he begins to turn on his heel to leave this all behind him. maybe it was stupid of him to act so brazen in front of his two friends.
but a gentle hand on his shoulder stops his departure. it beckons him to stay
“you’re not jealous of flins, are you?” you say softly. theres no judgement and you don’t phrase it with any blame.
and if he wasn’t being careful, he’d easily confess it all while leaning into your touch.
you expectantly wait for his response while a long beat of silence passes before he answers.
“would it be so wrong of me?”
you divert your attention to his dual-hued eyes, his gaze is intense. you do your best to hold his stare while your heart beats through your chest.
“i suppose i dont mind..” you try to playfully remark, but it comes out more breathless than you would have hoped for.
your hand makes no effort to move from its perch on his shoulder, in fact, his own begin to find their place on your waist.
“good.” he breathes, eyes now fixing down to your lips.
you answer his silent request and close the gap, lips meeting his as he eagerly accepts. he holds you tight enough to anchor himself to reality, the reality that exists where you chose him.
illuga groans into your mouth when your hand slips into his hair, but it quickly reminds him just where you guys are.
when he reluctantly pulls away, he doesn't quite let you go, but the pink dusting on his cheeks tells you he would gladly keep going if not for your current location. you keep him held close, not quite wanting to let this moment get away just yet.
“it seems that i should thank flins for pushing your buttons if this it what it leads to.” you laugh at the situation you found yourself in all thanks for a certain purple haired fae.
he groans, dropping his head down to rest in the crook your neck.
“do you have to bring him up now?” you can practically feel him pouting against you.
you can only giggle at him, hand finding his cheek so you can bring him back to look at you. you’re sure his blown out pupils and flustered smile mirror your own.
“sorry, sorry. we wouldn’t want to deal with his smug attitude knowing he did us a favor now, would we?”
illugas eyes flicker back down to your grin and up again.
“certainly not.”
the notion of concern for passersby was thrown out the window when he pulled you in for the second time. not that you minded— you just hope no one will question your absence for an unforeseeable amount of time.
you definitely need to send flins well regards next time you see him.
