2016 was a crazy year & as I’m finishing up some new material, I figured I’d take a moment to put all the tracks from the year in one place.

It started with the Private Drive single in January which was followed-up with some demos that eventually became the mini-album, Doubts. Francine was a song I had had in mind for a while & recorded shortly following the mini-album.  Another installment in the Silhouette Series, SSVII and a b-side from that project, Forgotten Math (Original Instrumental) were released in July & in August, I put together some instrumentals and demos for the Mysteryland mixtape which was closely followed by another demo, Song For You Most recently, I released The Stoner which is a track from an album I’m currently working on called Ritual Crimes, a bit of a different vibe going on with this project & I’m really excited to finish it up & throw it out into the universe. 

I guess 2016 was more productive than I think of it as being but nonetheless, I’m really looking forward to the insanity, inspiration, and adventure that 2017 will inevitably bring & I hope you are too. 2017 ahoy.

It’s never to late to reflect on last year’s work. I’ve been working a lot on new material, lots of different kinds of things, not just strictly music but always incorporating music into these other projects. so I figured I’d pause work for a bit just to put all of last year’s work in one place.  

It started with the Three Years Demo & then La Casa, an older song from a 2012 mixtape The minimalist phasing piece, Ab/Normal Behavior some covers, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow & What’ll I Do Three Years // Twenty-Four Days A rework of one of the first songs I’d ever written, I Sold My Soul to Satan for a Dollar, I Really Needed a Dollar Ambiguous minimalism, RGB Another installment in the Silhouette Series, SSVI An experimental mixtape, Samhain & an even more experimental Digital / Analog Phase

I guess you could say it was a productive year. 2016 will hopefully bring even more works into fruition.

Separating You

I want to lock myself in a room of all of the things I love about you & in my isolation maybe I'll find a way to keep my mind from wandering off too far & separate you from who you are (I'm wandering off too far & separating you from who you are)

You say it anyway but I don't like the way it tastes,  I've got the time to waste but I don't like the time it takes.  

Figured Out

I've figured you out, there's no room to doubt the space between us all. We'll fly, we'll fall 

Onward

It's time we walk away from those younger days leave some words unsaid, find new words to say I admit, I have been lost before but not quite like this (it's all the same) So you say this every day, in every way 'it's all the same'. Find something new to believe in, something never worth leaving. I'll believe in you if you believe in me.

what's weird is, I started making the Silhouette Series strictly to experiment with a stolen cassette recorder, just make weird noise & put it out there for the hell of it; but through this series of works I've actually put out some of my most personal songs... I think the manner of the sound of the music, the distortions and weird-whatevers, allow enough to be hidden that I'm comfortable saying the things I say within these songs, be it lyrically or contextually.

I'm excited to put this round of events to rest & embark on a new year.

The phases aren’t going to stop, but each one is meaningful & they all come together to create who you are. There’s no sense in denying them or being embarrassed by them, at the time they were occurring everything made sense; or maybe everything didn’t make sense but that’s how you learn about life, about yourself & the world around you, the people around you. At some point you have to own up to your past to start your future. At some point you have to start over, ending one phase & moving onto the next. …. & that’s all I’m going to say about it.
