Wedding Planning: Top 3 Oversights by Category

1.  Shot list – Taking the time to make an official shot list for your photographer will                ensure that you get the pictures you had hoped for. This should include:

Portraits

Formal group shots of the wedding party and family members

Ceremony shots

Décor & detail shots - favours, cake, flowers, tablescapes, etc.

Candid reception shots – speeches, dinner, dancing

2.  Props & accessories – Organize any items your photographer needs in order to                    cover all of the wedding details beforehand. These items may include:

Wedding stationary

Wedding bands, jewelry box, ring pillow

Bride & groom’s apparel and bridal bouquet

Pretty hangers for bridesmaid dresses

3.  Timing – Photographers usually have a package that includes a specific number                  of hours on-site. If you would prefer having lots of late-night dance shots, be sure              to book your photographer’s start time a little later. If you’re more interested in                  getting shots of the wedding party while they get ready - book your photographer                to start earlier and be sure to have those rooms tidied in advance.

1. Wedding date selection – When selecting a wedding date, remember to consider any city festivals or holidays that could affect venue availability and cost.                                                                                   12 - 8 months prior

2. Bride’s wedding ring – When ordering a wedding band, remember to consider the material of the engagement ring. White gold and platinum may appear to match, but over time platinum will scratch and wear down the white gold.                                                                                                         6 months prior

3. Post wedding brunch – Hosting a post-wedding brunch provides an opportunity to spend a little extra time with out-of-town guests before saying goodbye. It’s also a great chance to recount the events from the night before with family and friends.
