can you make a furby 3d faceplate without the eyelashes? I would love to 3D print the faceplate you made, but use false lashes on it.

We can do it! I’ll try to get to it this weekend. Would you want us to keep the slot or remove the slot for the eye lashes?

for those of us without access to a 3d printer, would you ever consider selling these parts? if not where can one find a public use 3d printer?

Depending on where you live, libraries or school near you might have them? I’m definitely considering opening an Etsy shop to sell faceplates for the community. I have no idea what the demand would be, but doing one offs at a small cost seems plausible.

hey, I'm trying to print the furby faceplate but the program I use resizes it. What are the accurate dimensions/measurements? thanks sm!!

The width across the eye axis (front faceplate) is 50mm and the width across the eye axis (back faceplate) is 57mm!

The height is 54mm on the back and 50mm on the front. This might be a better measurement for the back side.

If you’re seeing the plate resized it’s likely that it’s by a factor of 25.4 or 1/25.4. (We’ve noticed this too: because stl files don’t contain units and this is the conversion between inches and centimeters).

Hello! When printing the faceplate should I print it laying flat or vertically

Flat on the bed! It does require supports under the front plate (where the pins are located. These supports are relatively easy to remove and not visible after putting the two faceplate parts together.

I saw that you were making 3d models of the furby buddy faceplate, is there any chance in the future of other furby parts? Like shells, buttons, eyes or beaks.

We have some comatose/broken furbys that we want to take apart so we would definitely look into it!

This is free to use, but I would love to see you share what you do with it – I'm always looking for inspiration!

Some items of note:

This faceplate is great for projects but is not (yet) compatible with the original furby buddy faceplate. We are planning on making a more accurate version, but we don't know when exactly we will get to it, so the community is welcome to do so!

The faceplate eyes, eyelashes, and front plate are in one piece rather than in 5. This makes the printing process easier and reduced the needed accuracy for it to be printed.

The eye is solid (does not have a space for an eye-chip) – this means that currently you will have to either paint or print and glue on eyes. In the future, we would like to leave a gap in the eye so that clear glass or plastic could be inserted, to look more like the real furby. (My thought was that these could be used, as - to my knowledge - 10 mm should fit a furby buddy. We are waiting for our order of these to arrive at time of writing.)

We did not make the endcaps which hold the front plate on to the backplate, because we found that they weren't necessary to hold the face together.

The faceplate was created using Fusion360, and we can share CAD files on request.
