be around people who think everything about you is a big deal. your birthday. favorite food. favorite flowers. you in general. a big deal.
The slopification of everything on the internet because of ai and advertising is so tragic
I need to move to the city
“Maybe it was the smell of ripe tomatoes, or the oriole singing, or that certain slant of light on a yellow afternoon and the beans hanging thick around me. It just came to me in a wash of happiness that made me laugh out loud, startling the chickadees who were picking at the sunflowers, raining black and white hulls on the ground. I knew it with a certainty as warm and clear as the September sunshine. The land loves us back. She loves us with beans and tomatoes, with roasting ears and blackberries and birdsongs. By a shower of gifts and a heavy rain of lessons. She provides for us and teaches us to provide for ourselves. That’s what good mothers do.”
— Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass
“You never come closer to owning the whole world than when you wake up before everyone else.”

Everyone deserves healthcare.
Everyone deserves housing.
Everyone deserves healthy food, clean water, and affordable clothes.
Everyone deserves education.
Everyone deserves employment.
Everyone deserves dignity and justice.
pick up that non-fiction book
not all of us can live in fantasy 100% the time like i see some people on here do and it's refreshing to learn something new. its been philosophy, essays, and history for me and i feel much more at home on planet Earth for it knowing that people have been struggling and wishing similarly for millenia.
its not that fiction doesnt have its place, its important and healthy to exercise the imagination, but non-fiction can do so much to boost and supplement that. if not for yourself, for your art or for the people you're around
"representation matters!" but you wont read or engage with non-fiction works about any demographic outside your own
this version of the post doesnt seem to be getting much traction but this is arguably the most important reason why we should be reading nonfiction in addition to fiction
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
Putting the term "Catholic guilt" on a high shelf where fandom can't reach it until everyone learns how to identify characters who are very very clearly coded as Protestant.
KAMOME SHIRAHAMA WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?!?!?!!?!?!!!!!
I can’t even begin to explain the fury I have at my own inability to emotionally cope with certain tasks that most people find easy.
a book should be $5 a little drink should be $2 and museum access should be free and all hours
