Does anyone wanna talk to me about how a large part of Holy Rome and Feliciano's relationship is based on the HRE's desire to possess Feli, the historical undercurrent of him wanting to Become Rome by gaining control of the Italian states, and how even their sweet moments exist in the context of Feliciano being occupied by Austria, who acts in some ways as an extension of the HRE. Or how Feliciano is sometimes just shown to be fully afraid of him. And how this dynamic of occupation and dependency extends past Holy Rome's death into Italy's relationship with Germany. And how Holy Rome sees Feliciano as a fair maiden he has to conquer and gain the favor of and how Ludwig doesn't see him as a full adult sometimes. Or how Feliciano sometimes intentionally acts more incompetent than he actually is when he's with Ludwig. How, at least during the war, both of them more or less seek out this dynamic of Feliciano depending on him, despite some of Feli's attempts to be seen as more adult and masculine, and despite Ludwig's constant scrutiny of him.

had to go back to look at the comparison so figured I'd post it for others- Ava really manifesting ancient god shit. the color scheme. even the dividing lines starting to manifest, the like geometric patterns- also reminds me of Odin's zipper, interestingly enough. The way their hair is floating backwards. even the bandages resemble the way the deity's limbs stretch and bend.
