havealittlefuninstead wandered into the shadows.
Jack stared at the Dark Sand in Petrina’s hand with fascination. He always wondered if was able to make something like that with his snow. It would have been lovely. Perhaps, with some training he would learn. Speaking of training, Jack made a mental note to make sure to ask her about that later. Something made him worry; if things did go south, Jack knew how strong they could be together. If there did come a day where they would have to fight against one another, he wanted to be sure he was prepared for any upcoming battle. And at the moment if they were attack, well it wouldn’t be a very good encounter. Still a small part of him hoped that day would never come.
However, that could change the more his heart became consumed by darkness.
“I’m not gonna hurt anyone.” he spoke with a clear voice. It was much to early to do that. He had just begun his descend from innocence. He needed sometime. However, his curiosity made him step forward. He wanted to see her at himself as he used to with Sandy.”But I’ll go.”
Easily, he slip his cold hand into hers. He watched as his ice once again covered hers as it had done before. Interesting, really, how well they mixed together. Each time they touched or his ice merged with her shadows, he couldn’t help but stare in wonderment. His lips twitched upwards turning into a small smirk as he tightened his hold on her. “We need to be careful. If Sandman sees me with you, he’ll alert the others.”
In him, excitement swelled in his chest. His hand twitched as he stayed on the right of the Queen. To him, this was just another game and a learning experience. To see what she could do and to see what was on the other side so to speak. Before he was on the good side. Tooth, Sandman, North, Bunny all by his side. Now, here he was with the very person he fought against. And it felt… better. “Where are we gonna go?”
Petrina knew very well that Jack would never hurt anyone. Not yet, at least. After all, that was the reason he had rejected her offer, so many years ago upon that snow ridden hill. But perhaps soon, he would no longer cling to the foolish notion of protecting the children.
So, she simply nodded. "I know you won't. But that's fine. I'll enjoy the company nonetheless."
And it was true, in a way. This was the longest span of time she had ever spent interacting with someone, save for messy encounters with other Guardians or people who disliked her. It was strange, to have... a friend? Though at this point, she hardly considered Jack a friend. He was more a game piece, of which she was taking advantage of. Taking advantage of his loneliness and resentment and forming them into tools to mold him into a destructive force. But there was some part, deep within her chest that warmed at the thought of having a friend. A companion. Even if it was twisted and wrong and manipulated, it still made her head swim with possibility.
Golden hues watched the ice twist along her hand, melding with the grey skin beneath. It really was lovely. In response, she let her fingers curl around his and gave him half of an amused smile. "You're right. But don't worry about that - I'll make sure he doesn't see you. After all, he might not recognize you now..." She trailed off, shoulders lifting in a graceful shrug. She knew Sandman was her most threatening enemy - for he was powerful, compared to her. But that would change, with Jack at her side.
Moving a bit closer, she didn't answer his question as to where they were headed, but instead, wrapped her arms around him, pulling him to her chest. The shadows climbed up around them, consuming them both before they were suddenly somewhere else. It was a bedroom. A boy's bedroom. There were pictures, drawn in crayon, lining the wall, though now, they were covered by corners of band posters and sports teams. She let go of Jack, walking over to the sleeping boy.
"Jamie Bennett..."
She cooed, leaning over him as he slept, a peaceful look on his now teenaged face. "Does he believe in you anymore, Jack?" She didn't mean the question to be hurtful - she honestly was curious. It must have been at least two or three years since the two had met and that left lots of time for doubt to fester within the young male. Straightening up, she stared at Jack expectantly, golden eyes shining with a hint of malice.
Petrina has arrived in the Sun Palace
The guards crosses their spears at the nightmare queen. “Evil presence detected milady!” They shouted.
Sabrina stood from her throne, “Stand down those won’t do anything. What do you want?”
Petrina's lips curved into a smile - wicked and frightening. But she made no move as the spears were pointed towards her. Instead, she simply stood in what little shadow she had found and peered out at the goddess of light.
"My, my... Such hostility," she chided, though her tone was amused. "I want nothing, really. Perhaps I came in good nature." Her eyebrow raised, indicating this was not the case.

Pins and Needles - Birthday Massacre
Once a night my bedroom light Bleeds out from inside my window Eyes white, I keep out of sight This city's just not pretty like it used to be It's always a nightmare, it's never a dream The promise we made to kill the days between They live in the heartbeat and sleep til the light is gone It's been so long Feels like pins and needles in my heart So long I can feel it tearing me apart

Shampain - Marina and the Diamonds
Lay dagger dead inside a lonely bed Trying to hide the hole inside my head Watching the stars slide down to reach the end The sleep is not my friend
Send me a '♫' and I'll put my iPod on shuffle and that song will be our song!
All she could hear was the pounding in her ears.
Thump, thump...
Thump, thump...
A tiny hand was clutching hers, a body wrapped in her arms as she held the shaking boy close. They were hiding. Theodore was nowhere to be seen. But a soft whimper broke through her fear and her eyes flickered downwards. Through her tears, she could see her son.
Mommy... I'm scared.
Without a second thought, she rushed to his bedroom, slamming the door shut behind them. She forced him out of her grip, shoving him under the bed. Lying on her stomach, she tried to calm her breathing, sobs threatening to break through into the silent room. A gentle kiss was placed to his forehead, trembling fingers finally parting from her son's hand.
You stay here, my love. Stay. Wait for mommy. She'll be back. I'll come find you, but you stay under the bed.
She returned to that place, under the bed. She kept her word.
But by the time she had, her son was already buried in the ground. She didn't remember him - at least, not until many, many years later. And forevermore, Petrina would be doomed to an existence hiding under the children's beds, a flicker of her old self praying she would see her son once more.
She never did.
[pieces of the past.]
ooc: Petrina was once married to a wealthy man - an arranged marriage of sorts. Both of their families were royals, though had been at ends with each-other for thousands of years. This marriage was meant to end it all.
Unlike most girls and arranged marriages, Petrina actually enjoyed his company. His name was Theodore. They had a son together, after they married and they lived in peace for five whole years.
However, the peace came with a price.
Theodore's family had been one to practice dark magic of the worst, most wicked kind. And though Theodore himself did not know, there had been a curse placed upon his bloodline. On the second rising of the blood moon, the first born son would die.
The blood moon rose and Death came for their son, Kristian.
But Petrina told him to stay very quiet, keep his eyes shut tight in the darkness and hide under the bed. She never came back. Death accepted her as a sacrifice, molding her into the bringer of fear, instead of her young boy.

Friday stood on the ledge of the steep slope just in front of her home. She looked upon the small town just past the down; it was getting late and the lights were beginning to come on one by one. It’d been a long time since she’d had the courage to traverse down there, whether it had been to cause trouble or simply because nostalgia had been eating away at her. One of her masked cats was draped around her neck, resembling a large and somewhat frightening stole. It was purring contentedly, staring fixedly at the town below as well. Friday snarled, clenching her fists tightly. “A bunch of cowards,” she growled, “time hasn’t changed a damned thing…” She sneered, lifting her chin slightly in an almost conceited way. Suddenly, the cat around her shoulders snapped its head around to look in the opposite direction. An odd, low growl came from the creature alerting Friday to the presence of somebody else. Her eyes narrowed and her head turned to the side, hoping to catch a glimpse of whoever it was that had shown up uninvited.
A slight rush of wind and a whisper of fear and the Nightmare Queen had arrived, lurking in the shadows. Perhaps a night out, alone, away from her own dark lair would do her some good. Her grey skin was barely visible, blending in with the darkness that surrounded her. The grip on her cloak tightened, pulling the hood around her neck in an irritated fashion. She hated those little lights that seemed to pop up in the towns she chose to torment - they were the end of her. Though she had her ways of putting them out. However, the hiss of a cat pulled her attention to the side. A girl...? Narrowing her golden hues she took a step forward, so half of her face would be illuminated by the dim light that the other was sitting in.
"A bit late to be out alone, isn't it, dear?"
The question held no concern - only a warning, laced underneath false pretenses. Oh, how lovely it was to stumble across someone by themselves.
Which RPers do you ship my muse with?
havealittlefuninstead wandered into the shadows.
He turned around to face her only to come face to face with her back. He had wondered why she had taken some time to respond. Perhaps she was too lost in her mind to say anything. He waited patiently as he stood listening to the sound of her uneven breaths.
The forever-young spirit couldn’t help it. He was both curious to know what had happened but at the same time, he was jealous. Jealous that even she had her memories of her past before become the Queen she was now. However, was that really a blessing? Or a curse in disguise? Although he knew that Emma was now safe and sound as a spirit, before meeting her again, he knew nothing about what happened to her or his family. All he knew was that he had a mother and little sister that he gave up his life for. And that was all. And even now that he had been reunited with Emma, he still didn’t know much. Now he carried the burden of wondering what happened after falling in the frozen lake. Perhaps it was better not to know… Ugh this was all just too confusing for him to think about. Especially after that nightmare.
Jack followed quietly behind Petrina as she began to walk away. His hands clutched tightly together as he thought of the Man in Moon. All those years of being neglected, of never being told his reason for being put on this Earth, of never being told why he was so alone… Well they were going to backfire on the Man in Moon. Unbeknownst to the two, Jack because he was far from paying attention, Petrina because her back was turned , his pure white hair now had raven black strands. The golden tint in his eye was still there now permanently. Tainted by the ever growing darkness in his heart. HE felt the tendrils of darkness move irritably around the two and quickened his pace to stand right beside her. “Sandman’s gonna be out soon. That mean you have to go too?”
Petrina, had she the choice, would eradicate every memory from within her mind. It was torture, to feel those small moments of humanity come rushing back in. To long and ache to hold her son in her arms again, when she knew very well that he was dead. He had died long, long ago. Everyone had. And yet, she was still here - still doomed to a life of darkness and hatred and pain. But she never let anyone know this. It was all hidden away, perfectly tucked inside her cold black heart. Besides, the sadistic tendencies of her past-times really did help. The fear that had consumed her had turned her into a monster that craved fear. Craved destruction. And she was more happy to feed the gluttonous beast.
By the time Jack had caught up with her, there was no trace of the woman she had been. That was cast aside, tossed to the back corners of her mind like a useless memory. Back again was the regal queen, intent on having no one treat her as anything different. And so, she lifted her chin upwards the slightest bit, an amused smile tugging at her lips.
"Ah... Sandman..." She mused, hand raising so she could produce a small cloud of nightmare dust within her palm. There, she crushed it, the particles falling to the ground in an almost silent song.
"I suppose I should. It has been awhile since I've had my fill. But with you by my side, I'm sure we can certainly do much better than ever before..." Her eyes fixed on his, that same golden ring making her chest swell with pride. She had done that. She had turned the naive, meddling Jack Frost into a pawn in her game. And he was no useless pawn - of that she knew better. He was powerful, if he wanted to be. And oh, would he want to, by the time she had finished with him.
"Will you join me, Jack? You know, nightmares are always better when the air is too cold for the children to find comfort in. A little frostbite won't hurt... much." A small laugh bubbled in her throat, ringing in the stale, dark air around them. It died down quickly, however, turned in for favor of outstretching her lithe hand. She waited, arm poised, ready for him to take it.
"Shall we?"
fallengeneral wandered into the shadows.
{♔} “That would ruin the rustic look.”
Pitch answered the dark woman without hesitance, clearly unperturbed by the amount of energy and shadows that circled her as it seemed they were matching in that aspect. He had wandered here perhaps out of curiosity, finding another bed with an ebony abyss underneath it and musing that someone had to live here.
It seemed that the King was right and upon traveling down each pool of darkness, he found the target he had been searching for.
Golden hues stood out against the inky air, sharp teeth gleaming behind a complacent smile.
“How rude of me, though, to enter without permission. Let me introduce myself.”
Giving a slight bow at his waist, Pitch didn’t take his gaze off of her, glancing over each curl that framed the entity’s cheeks as he straightened back up in a fluid motion.
“Pitch Black. The Nightmare King.”
The answer to her musings had somewhat surprised her, eyebrow arching elegantly as she blinked. However, the only sign of amusement by his words was graced with a faint exhalation of breath. If one had a strong enough imagination, they might perhaps view this as a scoff. He continued to talk, baritone voice holding a similar tone to her own, nestled snugly within her voice box. Curiosity began to prick at her skin, ghosting up her spine. But she stayed stationary.
It was only when he bowed, informing her of his name, that she even bothered to let her gaze drift over to him.
Oh, well this was unexpected.
Eyes narrowed, grey lips pursing gently as she stayed still. There was a moment of quiet silence before she rose from her throne, long legs uncurling themselves as she stood. One, two, three steps down... She was level with him. Almost. As long as she continued to stand on the very last stair beneath her feet.
It was hard to decipher what emotion was in her eyes, for there were only ever two options. Boredom and sadism. Neither reigned within her pupils this time. In return, she curtsied, though it was a bit grudgingly. "Pitch Black..." His name crossed her lips, echoed in a way that made the corner of her mouth tip upwards in a smirk.
"You may call me Petrina." And that was all she said, turning away from him in a flurry of her black gown sweeping beneath her feet as she brushed past him, as if he were nothing more than one of the other idiots who seemed to wander in here. Across the room she seemed to glide, coming to stop only at a small and intricate table. There, she poured herself a glass of wine, actively working to keep herself from appearing at all interested.
ooc: And this is a scene from a roleplay I did with 'havealittlefuninstead'. Yeah. Shit got cray.
Ignore the crappy quality.
ooc: So, I know it's crappy quality, but I haven't scanned it yet, as I do not have a scanner. I plan on redrawing it digitally, though. But here. Have a fem!Pitch (Petrina) sitting on her throne with dem long legs.
