Dragons' Rising season 4 Spoilers!! (a drawing of Lloyd from one trailer)
So I finished this drawing :D
And I am so happy with it!!!! At one point I just noticed the improvement and I couldn't hold my happy giggles xD
There's still a lot I have to learn, like I had absolutely no clue what I was doing with the lighting - so that's definitely the next thing I wanna study (learning sources recommendations will be greatly appreciated)
But still - I am so excited cause it's rare I shade or even color my digital drawings so this is definitely a sign for me to try to do so more :D
Like I was so happy I wanted to jump around!!
I'm starting to notice my mistakes now and a part of me wants to spend more time fixing them, but I think I'm gonna leave it as it is. This took me ~13 hours already and my exams start next week so I really should focus on other things lol
Here's the rest of the speedpaint, WARNING: FLASHING + BRIGHT COLOURS; some parts of it are missing because I forgot to record a couple of times and because I did the lineart and floating lights in Tahoma2D cause I still have difficulty using Krita brushes. Yesterday I finally finished the new episodes and had to draw the guy, he was so fun to watch this season :D
The fly-fighting animation was top-tier and he was so silly with all his roars
Still a work in progress, but I'm pretty proud of it already
For the first time in a while I actually had fun drawing in Krita and felt it easy to do so
Normally I struggle a lot with drawing digitally or just redraw a thing a thousand times, but this time it went surprisingly smoothly. This only took me an hour to make which is really really short for me
Warning: the speedpaint has some flashes
In case someone wonders why is there a sudden change in quality in this video : I accidentally set the recording in Krita to be in done in the highest quality and ended up with 0 bytes of disc space...
...which I didn't know was possible without the tablet crashing or autodestructing
This time I didn't have access to my graphic tablet, but I still really wanted to do something so I tried animating another character of mine with a laptop's touchpad
I think I might have messed up the hair a little but that's a problem for another day or exercise ;P
For some reason, while I really love archiving my art in places like this site, I have always felt some sort of embarrassment if I shared something I didn't consider fully finished or if it didn't represent the highest levels of drawing I could reach
This has lead me to postponing posts, even though I have always made them mostly for my own enjoyment
Like I literally have a silly Ninjago drawing that I have been telling myself that "I will post it tomorrow" since doodling it in August
And I really love seeing others' sketches, doodles and messy concepts so I don't know why do I have this mental blockage when it comes to me
So I will be doing a little experiment with myself and start queuing up posts containing my sketches and exercises (as that's mostly what I'm doing right now) in order to see if this will help me break through this mental barrier
Aaand I'm writing all of this down to see if it will help me persuade myself by commitment ;]
So to start, I feel like I have to do it in this post so I don't start to think "Well I posted something today, mission accomplished, I can share my drawings tomorrow or in a few days"
Since yesterday I have been trying to make a simple head turnaround for my OC Darren
Problem is - I still have difficulties with drawing characters consistently and I don't have a lot of experience from drawing people from their sides
(the first try looked like this lol)
So I had to fight and redraw them a lot
But every time I liked the profile - it turned out I couldn't draw the same face from the front (and vice versa)
So I ended up simplifying the face and reaching for the Rottmnt shapes
So right now it looks like in the GIF and I'm going to try to finish it and maybe even change up the shapes if I do figure out how to draw something else from different angels ^^
Not superstitious and not not superstitious but a third secret thing (read a lot of fairytales as a child and doesn't believe them but also would never be rude to a mountain while still on it just in case)
This has to be the longest animation I have ever completed and I'm gonna keep bragging about it until I beat the time ;P
Working on this project has been great, I love how many different styles and types of animation got included in the final result, please give it a watch!
