We're filling up the world with technology and devices, but we've lost sight of an important question: What is this stuff for? What value does it add to our lives? So asks author John Thackara in his book, In the Bubble: Designing for a Complex World. In the Bubble describes services designed to help people carry out daily activities in new ways. Many of these services involve technology -- ranging from body implants to wide-bodied jets. But objects and systems play a supporting role in a people-centered world. The design focus is on services, not things. And new principles -- above all, lightness -- inform the way these services are designed and used. At the heart of In the Bubble is a belief, informed by a wealth of real-world examples, that ethics and responsibility can inform design decisions without impeding social and technical innovation.

Reality or illusion? It's hard to believe that these images are only three-dimensional holograms, if you do not look with your own eyes at the painstaking method with which the artist created them. Japanese artist, Riusuke Fukahori, is able to paint subjects in 3D layer by layer, with a transparent acrylic resin. The result is so realistic that anyone could think that these little fishes, turtles and octopus are real and swim undisturbed in their small containers.

A series of photos taken years ago by Oliviero Toscani for a campaign promoting the UNHCR (United Nations High Commission for Refugees). Represents a bloodstain which has unexpectedly taken on the shape of Mickey Mouse.

Architecture is often viewed from the outside, as an inanimate object represented in still imagery. 'REM' exposes the human experience of architecture. The resulting documentary is revealing and evocative. The audience (through the camera) gains a rare insight into the reality of the hidden internal life of the buildings. REM is a feature length documentary film made by Tomas Koolhaas about his father Rem.

Art director Marc Ascoli asked Nick Knight to handle the photography  for japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto's lookbook and advertising campaign in 1986. Knight involved graphic designer Peter Saville (1955), known for producing album sleeves for Joy Division and New Order. The trio created a series of -what would go down in fashion history as groundbreaking- images. Their Yamamoto lookbooks have since become collector's items. The innovative photos by Ascoli, Knight and Saville for Yohji Yamamoto -Susie Bick slumped on a chair with cigarette between her fingers- have a tremendous impact to this day, and have been instrumental in developing Yamamoto brand's visual identity.

A mid-century wooden animals puzzle by Enzo Mari with a double function; a puzzle and also a construction game that allows a free composition of elements. If today architect and graphic designer are distinct professions, each specializing in their own field, Carlo Scarpa inherits from the avant-garde of the twentieth century, a strong focus on lettering and graphic layout. But his search for original characters, even when is based on modular geometries, elementary signs, standardized, has never aimed at the creation of a universal alphabet, but as the solution to every design opportunity, a compositional problem specific and unrepeatable.

Hormazd Narielwalla, collage maker; working with bespoke Savile Row tailoring patterns as his source materials. He interprets and communicates patterns as abstract shapes of the human form; using this technique he narrates untold tailoring stories. "They would have typically been discarded as they were drafted for bodies than no longer exists. I divorce them from their tailoring context and view them as interesting shapes in their own". - Hormazd Narielwalla

Yohji Yamamoto Red Coat, Naomi Campbell,1986 -                          Nick Knight, photographer, challenges the conventional notions of beauty and pushes the boundaries of fashion and art, with creativity, innovative techniques and high production values. Originally commissioned by Yohji Yamamoto for his Autumn/Winter 1987/8 collection advertisements but has been printed up at a large scale to be seen in a gallery context. Bold, simple and stylish. Nick Knight used flash light to freeze the silhouette. In addition, tungsten light and a long exposure time to produce the blurring red color within the shape.

As the day and night The rule and the case are two opposites as the light and the dark such as red and green such as hot and cold such as wet and dry as the masculine and the feminine. The rule gives security , geometry helps us to know the structures or to build a world in which we can move without fear . The case is the unexpected sometimes terrible sometimes pleasant an encounter with a person with which it is established immediately a touch of sympathy or love, the explosion of an idea solver the discovery of a phenomenon. The rule comes from the mind is built with logic everything is provided with the rule you can plan a program. The case stems from the climate environmental conditions , social, geographical , from sensory receptors . A smell of eucalyptus the shape of a stone the rhythm of the waves of the sea ... The rule itself is monotonous the case alone makes us restless . Orientals say : Perfection is beautiful but it is stupid you must know it but break it. The combination of rule and case is the life , is the art is the fantasy , is balance. - Bruno Munari, 1966

Adesign is a critical view of design. Its is neither design, nor anti-design.Neither does it claim to be defined as art, even if it moves in the same direction. 

Meaning -> Adesign is a-design is a-art.

The industrial design produces useful objects with "good-taste". Functionality is the principle underlying the creation of products. Therefore usefulness is the prerequisite. Taste places it in a temporal and temporary dimension.
