Peter comes out with his relationship with Steve before he comes out with being Spider-Man.
They come out long before. He is known as a close perosn to tony stark and his protege, and a high profile employee at SIs head quarters, nothing more. and one day him and Steve are seen leaving the towers holding hands early in the morning, and the world becomes aware.
Problem with that is one day peter and Steve are leaving the tower to go on a little lunch date and (obviously their very high profile figures in New York, especially to the paparazzi) peters got a raging black eye from patrol.
Steve has a usual routine when peter comes home from patrol. And my god, does he love and melt at the fact that he can call his apartment their home, but whatever. When peter comes home his muscles are usually wrecked and Steve makes him a cup of tea, gives him a few lovely kisses and massages him wherever he needs and wants untill peters finally exhausted.
However today obviously, peter came home looking much worse for wear.
Of corse Steve wasn’t too happy about it, god he’s Steve look at him he could practically sob his heart out if Peter got a paper cut. He spent a few hours fussing about it like a mother hen untill it eventually turned into ‘god-your-so-hot-but-please-shut-the-fuck-up’ sex, which, yes, they both did enjoy very much but afterwords that turned into more of Steve fussing in the bath. Which is pretty hard for peter to take seriously when theirs bubbles in his beard, okay.
But as far as those god damn paps were concerned big buff strong and scary captain America’s little twink boyfriend was looking a little mangled at his side, so yeah, headlines were... a little accusatory. God what am I saying, More than a little, more like flat out calling steve all sorts of fun little nicknames like the “boyfriend beater” and “towers worst resident”, along with “cap goes winter soldier on young partner”, that one was just fantastic.
And that, well, considering steve is, Steve who sat in bed holding peters cheek and asking him if he was sure it didn’t hurt and what he could do for hours and could never fathom laying a finger on anyone he loved, especially as much as he did Peter he may have cried a little and needed to be held, loved and reassured by his alleged victim.
But, peter does have to say he loves this man to the moon and back, because his first instinct was to call may and explain that is not the case and that would never happen and beg for her to believe him (which, he’s Steve of corse she does).
But peters second instinct was to kill whoever made his golden retriever of a boyfriend cry.
