intro post!

good timezone and welcome! my name is liam (he/him) and this blog is dedicated to my journey as a hellenic polytheist! it also will double as an e-altar for the gods. i'm so happy you're here!! <3

my religious journey started a little over two years ago, on a beach in maryland, where i had a bit of an "awakening" to hellenic polytheism and first reached out to Lord Poseidon! my username is "fromoceantoolympus" to honor that moment - how it all started with Lord Poseidon ("from ocean") and how my experience with hellenic polytheism has grown to include more of the gods ("to olympus")!

i have been raised in a religious jewish household my whole life. i am currently still living at home, but i will be moving out once i start college in a little less than two years (more on this later!). because of this, i have never been able to worship safely and properly. it's been veeeeeery slow going. my hope is that this blog will not only help me connect with other hellenic polytheists, but will also help me connect more with myself and the gods. 

some info about me:

i am 16 years old, turning 17 very very very very very very soon (less than a month!)

i'm brasilian-american! portuguese is actually my first language :3

i am genderfluid, but am listing my pronouns as only he/him here for some special gender euphoria moments

i am an actor and plan to major in theater and pursue acting professionally as an adult!

i love love LOVE aesthetics and fashion! my personal aesthetics are goblincore/gremlincore and twee!

music is my life. i listen to a lot of punk music, but my all-time favorite band is BTS <3

i also love playing music! i play the piano, marching cymbals, and am learning how to play the theremin

i am slowly learning how to bake/cook. my most recent bake: soft snickerdoodle cookies

i'm autistic and i have fibromyalgia, which impacts all parts of my life

Curly-haired witches out there, if you spray your hair with water in the mornings just a little to get your curls to look less frizzed then boy oh boy do I have a tip for you.

Use charged water. Moonwater, sunwater, whatever else you want. Just make sure that it's ok for your hair and won't kill it or something. I like to use moonwater most of the time personally but it differs based on what I want for that day.

today has been an interesting day so far! it's been drizzling all morning, but as i was walking to study hall, lightning and thunder happened for a while. i then decided to pray to Lady Aphrodite for personal reasons, so that was very wonderful <33 then, i had some time left before my next class, so i decided to pray to Lord Zeus and give thanks to Him for the thunderstorm. when i started praying, the clouds started moving quickly across the sky and the sky cleared! it is still clearing now as i type this. it left the most beautiful cloud patterns. it made me so happy!! Blessed be Zeus and Aphrodite <3333

My favorite ancient hymn has to be the Orphic Rhapsodic Hymn to Zeus. Mostly because it completely flies in the face of most modern perceptions of Zeus and his role in Ancient Greek religion. "haha zeus sky daddy throwing lightning bolts and having affairs"

WRONG. ZEUS ENCOMPASSES THE UNIVERSE ITSELF AND HIS EYES ARE LIKE THE BRILLIANT SUN AND HIS BELLY IS THE COSMOS! HE IS THE ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE FIRST AND LAST OF ALL THINGS, BOTH MALE AND FEMALE!

manifesting that the next time i go thrifting (hopefully next sunday!!) i find some sort of iconography of my beloved deities <33 i can't get huge statues because i'm still living with my parents and they would get suspicious, but a small bust or something for Their future altars would be nice!!

on today's episode of having to worship the Theoi in secret, i'm quietly thanking Lord Zeus for today's rainstorm, since the Earth needs it. Additionally, I'm eating Cheerios as an act of service to Lady Demeter, and i'm working hard in my dress rehearsal for my show as an act of service to Lord Dionysus! Two (out of five) of my roles are smart people, who remind me a little of Lady Athena. Blessed be the Gods! <33
