𖤓 My name is Althea, meaning “healer” (she/her). This is religious blog and here I’ll mostly talk about hellenic polytheism, among other practices that I might adhere. I am also an eclectic witch. I’m a minor so beware of that before interacting and I’m very openly LGBTQIA+ though I’d rather not to label. Last but not least, I’m brazilian and since English is not my first language, I might make mistakes.

I’ve disappeared for a while bc life has drifted me away from my practice but since it’s blue moon I’ve found it’d be the perfect time to connect again.

May was a month full of changes for me. I’ve got a pixie cut and for the first time since I was six Im wearing my natural curly hair, I’ve made new friends after letting go of old friendships I’ve had since childhood, I feel like I’ve got in a new phase of my life and I’m planning to enjoy it.

I’m feeling very close to Selene and Aphrodite these days, two goddesses I’m normally not connected to lol But then again, life is changing a lot for me.

I think the deepest gift that honest history offers practitioners is not the destruction of their religion but its liberation from a kind of false dependency. If your practice only works because you believe it descends unbroken from ancient Mesopotamia or medieval Italy or pre-Christian Britain, then it is, in a certain sense, held hostage by a claim that can be falsified. And that is a fragile foundation. But if you can learn to say, “this practice is powerful and meaningful to me, and it was assembled from various sources in the twentieth century, and those things are not in contradiction,” then you have something far more resilient. You have a practice grounded in honest experience rather than mythologised history.

This is not the same as saying history does not matter. It matters enormously. Understanding where your practices actually come from, who shaped them and why, what was borrowed and what was invented: this knowledge enriches practice rather than diminishing it. But it requires a willingness to tolerate the vertigo, to sit in the gap between what you were told and what the evidence shows, and to discover that the ground is still there even when the map turns out to be wrong.

Usually I’m not very connected to moon deities but Artemis II mission really gave me a new perspective on her! It’s unfathomable to me how she plays a major role in our earth’s life; regulating breeding, hunting, migration for so many species, forming tides, ensuring a stable climate, acting as a muse, timekeeper, guider. Her colors, caused by mineral in her surface has kept me in awe since I first saw it.

It’s also incredible to think about how she views the earth in phases as well! I actually have never thought about this before and it’s so adorable 🥹

the gods are ever evolving, and to imply they are stuck in time is a disservice to their power and influence. this is my strong opinion, and it’s okay if you don’t agree!

i just saw a post of someone listing all of the things they hate about the community, and then admonishing people who worship Hades and Ares. they said worshipping Hades invites death into your home and worshipping Ares is only for veterans. i blocked them because i don’t entertain that kind of negativity or talking down to the community.

as a grecobuddhist, i believe the gods are subject to samsara. their changing domains, names, and styles of worship are their deaths and rebirths with their essence staying consistent. i will always advocate for worshipping the Theoi based off of ancient methods and informed by antiquity. but i will never talk down to people who have different experiences with the gods, and i will never throw around hate and dismiss other’s religious practices.
