The Beauty of Water
WATER
The human adult body is made up of about 60% water. Water affects so much of how we function. It help us stay healthy and literally is required to live. The body begins to go into survival mode after 3 days of no water. The more time that goes by without water, dehydration sets in and the body begins to shut down. Many of us take clean water for granted because we are in a country that has a system that readily allows water to come out of our faucets for not only drinking, but for bathing and washing our clothes, cars, and water our grass. But we have also seen the effects of not having clean water right here in America with Flint, Michigan.
After talking about drinking water for survival, you should also know that water helps flush the toxins from your system and helps give you healthier skin. Water has been know to help the skin, slow the aging appearance on the skin, reduce puffiness, helps prevent acne, and improves the skin tone.
Drinking water is also good for hair growth, by keeping your hair hydrated, and allowing vitamins to be better absorbs into your system . As far as water for washing and hydrating your hair externally, be sure not to pull on hair as you detangle it with comb and brush. Also be sure to add a moisturizer such as shea butter, so the hair does not become dry and brittle.
Overall, you can not go wrong with keeping your body hydrated with good clean water.
Although we started with hair products, the vision for From Zion Beauty is to become a wholistic, wellness brand. Our ultimate goal is no just to sale products, but to convince our supporters to be sold on a healthier, natural lifestyle and allow us to be apart of that journey. It’s a tall order, but it can be done.
Some future goals include From Zion Beauty vitamins.
Please keep us in prayers and drink your water.

Rice Water for Hair
So we all want healthy, head full of hair. In my research to study my craft I have come across methods that have been passed down in certain cultures through generations. My goal is to find what actually does and does not work for, in particular African American hair (AAH) AAH has a variety of hair types. They have been broken down to a chart, ranging from 1, which is bone straight to 4b, which is a tight coil curly hair. Many of you may already know this, but I realize that people from different racial backgrounds have adopted African American children or Afro-centric children from around the world, and they too might find some of this information useful.
Let talk about Rice Water. Which has been used historically in the Asian culture. It has been said it give hair a soft texture, a shinny gloss, strong, and faster growth.
Here is a simple recipe for it: 1/2 cup of uncooked white rice. Rinse the rice with a strainer, then let it soak in 2 cups of water for at least 1 hour, but not more than 2. What you are trying to get is the starch that is found in rice. You want your water to be starchy, like a white cloud in a jar.
Some victims found in Rice Water include Vitamin B and Vitamin E
How to use it: Wash your hair with your favorite shampoo. Then rinse out thoroughly with clear luke warm water. Pour rice water on your hair. Message and leave in your hair for 15-20 minutes. Then rise hair thoroughly again with luke warm water.
As with anything, it takes time to see if results are apparent for your hair texture. If you tried or used this method before, leave a comment and let us know your results.
I did find the texture of my 3C hair type to be softer. But I did not find much growth that I can say came from using Rice Water. This might have something to do with my hair texture and coil of my curls.
Hemp Oil
What is Hemp Oil? What can it be used for?
Hemp Oil is an oil that derives from cannabis but it does not have the THC chemical in it (tetrahydrocanna binol), which makes you feel high. But it does have elements that are beneficial to your wellness. Hemp Oil is rich in Omega 3, which is a fatty acid that helps maximize hair growth. It does this bi way of, promoting blood circulation when massaged in the head. It also helps with strengthening and improves hair loss. Hemp Oil is good for the skin too. It hydrates the skin and helps prevent fine lines and wrinkles. The last highlight benefit, is the ability to help the body with inflammation and pain when massaged into the skin. As always, you should test a small portion of your skin to make sure you don’t have an allergic reaction. If you pass the test, Hemp oil should become a product that you can use everyday. Coming soon, From Zion Beauty, will have Hemp Oil in future hair products and body butters.
