So apparently I've got followers for this now. Hi y'all. Please let me know if you see typos or incorrect tags. Or even if you just have a suggestion of how to better organize this blog.
Very slowly, Dean turns. 'How'd you know I was here about a room?'
'Power of deduction,' says Castiel, leaning against the doorway. 'I mean, you're not after pot, and I'm pretty sure we haven't slept together.' He grins wolfishly, gaze sliding over Dean's body. 'You, I'd remember.'
Dean's been hit on by guys before, but never so blatantly, let alone by a semi-naked dude in a kimono. A hot blush warms his cheeks, and he covers his shock with cockiness, tilting his head and grinning. 'Sorry to disappoint you, Cas, but I don't swing that way.'
Castiel throws back his head and laughs. 'And you want to live here? What, did your friends put you up to this?'
'Actually, yeah.' Dean raises an eyebrow. 'Is that a problem for you?'

When they say Cas sleeps around, he REALLY sleeps around. Dayum. Impressive. This fic has an interesting domestic situation. Though there's a lot of things I've seen before in regards to mental health and Dean's usual gay panicking. I also kind of refuse to believe Dean would manage to forget about his housing situation until just about the day before he gets kicked out. That just doesn't seem believable to me. But the fic is good.
Driving down a deserted road in the Rocky Mountains, Castiel finds something unexpected: An omega. Not only an omega, but a naked, injured, pregnant omega.
Dean doesn't talk much at first, but that doesn't change the brightness of his soul.
It also doesn't stop Castiel from falling in love with him.

This is another fic I read ages ago and seriously thought I'd put here already but apparently not... so... *shrug*
I remember lots of Dean struggling with his trauma and Castiel helping him. If you like hurt/comfort this is one for you. There are bits of fluff in with all the angst. Almost too much for me at times. But there is a lot of dealing with trauma too.
About the author: J. Lee Harrison grew up in Port Orchard, WA. He lives in New Mexico and enjoys traveling throughout the US. His novel Haunted won a Bram Stoker award for Best First Novel. You can learn more at www.jleeharrison.com.
Cas laughs every time he reads his bio. If it were honest, it would say “Castiel Jones is the author of seventeen novels, all written in states he's visited, published under five different pen names. He lives nowhere in particular - after years on the run from his own real-life horror story, he's forgotten how to stay in one place."Although it could be worse, he supposes. He could always be one of the characters in one of his stories.
Some nights, he worries that maybe he is.
When Dean Winchester recognizes him as one of Dean's favorite horror authors, he should be packing up to leave Minnesota. But the handsome, mysterious bad boy who loves books, lives on the road, and tells lies for a living feels real and solid, in contrast to the nightmare that follows his life no matter how far he runs.

I LOVE that this is a romance plus casefic. There is seriously not enough of that to go around. I highly recommend. Just shy of hitting my faves list.
Castiel, a lone alpha wolf, would like nothing more than to be left alone in his house to die. He wants nothing to do with the outside world and doesn't have anything to offer to anyone. Then, one early morning, a black car crashes into a tree right beside his house. The driver is rendered unconscious and doesn't remember a thing after he wakes up. He is also an omega, but there's something very wrong with him.

This story is for those who appreciate deeply scarred characters. Usually one of the characters is more screwed up than the other, but in this one they are both seriously messed up. Which of course I'm a sucker for. Mind the warnings. The one thing I didn't like was that the author chose to go with a Sam who was sort of like soulless Sam.
Though Sam did love Jess though so it wasn't really soulless Sam. I just wish he'd been dead or something because I hated when Sam was shitty to Dean.
If Dean was denied sex then he was denied a meal; and that would never do.

To be honest, I'm not sure why I read this. Crossing dressing isn't my thing. And neither is Victorian era stuff. I am a fan of succubus stories though. If it hits your buttons, you should read this. It just wasn't for me.
After the fall, everything changes. Cas is human, Sam's in a coma, and Dean's shoulders won't stop aching no matter how much he ignores them. Though they both agree that fixing the world is their responsibility, Dean and Cas must first learn how to fix themselves. Forced to relearn how to function on a daily basis, the two discover that they need each other more than either of them are comfortable admitting. But they find that when you fall, it's nice to know you have someone there to catch you.

I was asked to read this about nine months ago. Sorry it took so long but I did get around to it last week! (Also reminder that my rating includes my personal preferences in fic)
I believe this is the author's first novel length fic. You can tell with the writing early on, but it improves as the story goes on which is fantastic to see. About halfway through I really got drawn in and just sat and finished the last half in one go.
This fic starts out canonverse and goes AU after the end of season 8. The greatest thing about this fic I think is how well the characters change over time. Dean and Castiel change very believably. This fic does have major character death but you won't be screaming at your screen. It's somehow satisfying and okay.
I have more praises and constructive criticisms under the read more since they're spoilery.
I absolutely love how it ended up being a twist on endverse spn. Seriously amazing job slowly leading up to that. My biggest criticism is that I couldn't see Sam saying yes to Lucifer like that. I think it would have been better if the reader could know more of his thoughts leading up to this. Or have him say yes offscreen and for us not to know why like in the original endverse.
I had shivers when the endverse scenes showed up. Like honest to goodness shivers down my spine. When the exact same lines were used but it was a different person or a slightly different circumstance. Seriously, good creepy/nervewracking. Awesome choice.
There were some plot decisions I didn't like which is my personal dislike and others probably liked. For example, Gabriel showing up irked me. It could have been any other angel made up or otherwise who could fill that role in the fic. I don't like the idea that Gabriel faked his death here. I also disliked Lucifer lying. That is one of my favorite parts of his character, which it obviously isn't for others.
The way we saw Cas spiral into drug use and Dean becoming hard hearted over time was heartbreaking but felt so real. Thank goodness they were able to open up to each other though. It put a bit of relief of the hopelessness of the endverse situation. I also liked how Dean was learning to be an angel while Cas was learning to be human. It kind of mirrored each other. I'm sure people who are more into meta stuff than me would have stuff to say about it.
Generally, I think the author focused really well on what Dean and Cas were going through but not so well on the periphery characters which made some of their decisions hard to understand.
To finish this up, let me tell you how much I liked the ending. A lot. I've never actually enjoyed a fic with major character death, but the author made me appreciate such an ending. It seemed the right way for it to go. Very satisfying.
"Hello
If you have found this, it means you are the one to know the truth of my disappearance. See, the truth is, I am dead. I took my own life. No, do not be sad. Do not cry. Do not mourn my passing. It is not necessary… but what is necessary, is for you to understand why. I need someone (anyone, thus leaving this in a library book) to understand why. If you do not wish to continue this adventure, do not worry, I will not hold it against you. But, if you do, please continue to read.”
Dean finds this letter in the pages of a book by chance and while the words startle him, the journey the mystery author takes him on, will change how he views the world forever.

I am literally crying right now. This is a gorgeous piece of work. Simply stunning. Wonderfully written. It just felt so so true or something. I’m not sure if that’s quite the right word. It is very intense and emotional. Please please don’t read if you get triggered from fic dealing with suicide, self harm, rape, etc. Read all the warnings. If you can stomach them, you should definitely read this.
Also with changed names, this could literally be published as a short story and I really think it should be. It’s that good. So, so good.
Dean is a wizard who specializes in searching magic. Normally his cases in league with Officer Henricksen involve missing persons cases or stolen credit cards, but when Dean gets word of an underground familiar ring bust ending in a dragon on the loose, he can't help but pitch in to find the wayward beast.
Author: HigherMagic
Very cool magical world with dragons and stuff. I would totally read more in this universe. I just wish the fic were longer.
Castiel was happy running a mission for omegas where they could live in peace and have power over their lives. When a group of alphas come asking to buy the land, so they can use it for mining, Castiel sends them away. However, they come back and burn the mission to the ground leaving Castiel a broken man.
Sam and Dean are sent after an outlaw leaving a string of dead alphas across the western territories. They track him for months before they realize the outlaw is an omega hunting sadistic alphas. Sam and Dean must decide whether they agree with Castiel’s mission, whether they should bring him to justice, and whether Dean’s found a kindred spirit in the outlaw.

I haven't really read a western AU before so that was different. Dean's horse was named Impala. I don't know why but that always bugs me. It just doesn't sound like a horse name to me. I've read plenty of fantasy fics that do that as well. But anyways, not a problem with the fic. Heh. Well written. Angst everywhere of course.
Jensen needs to relax. Misha helps, in his own way.

This is some good rope bondage stuff. I don't know the specifics of real world stuff, but it sounded accurate and the comments imply it is too. This fic is what has made me interested in someday trying it despite my claustrophobia. There's a link to a follow up fic at the bottom that continues the scene into explicit territory for those interested.
Castiel is a small town priest with a mysterious past. One ill-fated evening he prays for an end to his loneliness. He's heard, but not by Heaven. Dean Winchester is a demon from Hell and he hails the call. But not everything is as it seems.
Author: fine_feathered
This started out really up my alley. I was expecting Castiel to become darker, but really it's a saving demon Dean fic. I was hoping for something dark. It's pretty good though, just not what I was expecting.
Kinkmeme fill: Jensen owes both Jared and Jeff a debt. They've decided its time to collect.
Original prompt: Don't care what other kinks are involved, but I really want one of the Js eating dinner at the table while the other gets their own dinner by sucking cock under the table. Extra love for some dirty/degrading talk. I'd like dub/noncon, but consensual is okay too.
Author: LittleSparrow69
Warning: it's rather dubcon, but Jensen is okay with it in the end.
This involves Jared, Jensen, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. I don't actually have a tag for that though and I don't usually read stuff with JDM. So I'm just tagging this as j2.
If this fits your kinks it's a good read. Otherwise, it'll probably just be uncomfortable. Read the tags on the fic.
Every noble in the eight kingdoms of Pyrniel serves as a sexual tribute during their twenty-first year. Jensen is tribute to the court of King Jared, a leopard mask and tail plug his only clothing. He and his fellow tributes have been trained by individual handlers to serve the castle inhabitants sexual needs, providing erotic entertainment during festivals, and participating in celebratory orgies. Jensen is honoured to be chosen as King Jared's personal tribute; he lovingly services the King's every personal whim and need and willingly obeys every order, but all the while, seeks any hint that the young King shares his growing affection.
Author: KatStark
The whole idea of the fic is really interesting to me. I wonder if any kingdoms actually did this (minus the sex part). It sounds like a good idea. Anyways, I really liked this fic except for the actual relationship between Jared and Jensen. Just, it was so not healthy. I could go into details but it would contain spoilers and I'm not in the mood for ranting.
And that’s when he always runs past cute-boy-who-smiles-at-him. He noticed it during the second week of the semester. The first time it happened (a Monday), Cas was wiping sweat from his face with his forearm when he looked up and saw big green eyes staring right at him almost as if he was waiting on him to notice him. Cas had smiled first that day because that’s what you do when you run past people, you smile politely and keep right on jogging. But the way cute-boy-who-smiles-at-him smiled back at him that day had Cas weak in the knees for a second and nearly tripping over the loose, uneven bricks of the Hillsborough sidewalk.

This was seriously so cute and had me laughing. READ IT. Haha. I love the names in their heads for each other before they know names.
Jensen has always been a good puppy-boy, and Jeff is ready to make one of Jensen's biggest fantasies come true: taking an Alpha knot like a good breeding bitch. Good thing Misha has a farm full of them.
Author: saltandbyrne
So... very abo kink oriented and like... filthily, awfully so. Not for those who are shy about reading this stuff. Please read the notes first at the top of the fic. I can't believe I was turned on by this. *hides in embarrassment*
Dean the Firefighter lives in a world of greys, reds, oranges and yellows. He's a lower-spectrum, and the only way he can get his kick of green or blue is by sharing his colours with strangers in back alleys - until one day Cas crashes into his world, bringing the whole of the glorious upper spectrum with him.
Author: whelvenwings
This was an interesting, slightly different take on the color thing I've seen around. Sharing colors sounded so cool. Well written I think.
Jensen doesn't think anything could be worse than having to play father to an egg for his Home Ec class. Then he gets partnered with Misha, and whether that's better or worse remains to be seen.

Not my usual, but quite cute. It's a hate turns into like like fic.
