I think the moment where Asgore is aurafarming about parading the body of the fountain maker and Susie gets weirded out is important. Flowery points out that Susie was also mean but changed because of love and that Asgore can too. Except Flowery is wrong, even if it’s not explicitly spelled out. Yes, Kris and Ralsei and Lancer giving Susie a chance definitely helped her to grow. But at the end of the day, what really got Susie to change was to see how her violent actions would hurt Lancer and other people she cared about, and she chose to change and take accountability for her actions. No amount of people pleasing from Ralsei and Kris could have made her change.

Asgore, of course, is an adult, and neglecting his family is much worse than what Susie did. If his relationships with the flowers are meant to reflect his family relationships, they all tried to connect with him and didn’t blame him. But his own self hatred led him to isolate from them. And then he tries to lovebomb Tori when that’s not what she needs. What really gets Asgore to change is not the flowers showering him with love, but when he realizes Kris is hurt and finally realizes he’s been causing his family to suffer because of his single-mindedness. And then he resolves to restore his relationship with his children instead of trying to get back Toriel to repair the family.

It wasn’t being loved that saved Susie or Asgore, but their love for others that they rediscovered.
