there's no need to worry, anon! i'm still alive!! i went into a long period of inactivity because of school and my flunks of motivation.

so, y'know, the usual.

but, uh! i kinda managed to start a bit of a smaller and newer kin help blog in the meantime! i was gonna make a post about this, but it slipped my mind ^^;

i ended up making a new blog cuz starting small and fresh all over again made me happy! it also managed to lift a lot of stress off of my shoulders, too.

my interpretation (this is just here if the song doesn’t spark anything!):

this song describes the struggles of someone who came to los angeles to pursue their dreams but ended up unsuccessful. it shows how many are captivated by the glamour of the city when they first enter, only to be slowly broken down over time. the song paints the image of a person slowly losing hope and becoming who they promised they would never be in the city of “dreams.”

based off of this, i think that it’s likely there was a chance you decided to take in your shsl waitress kaede canon, but things managed to go downhill and make you lose hope in a way. you may have broke down like the person who was illustrated in the song did when things didn’t go the way you had planned. 

when the album dying in la is from was coming out, brendon urie revealed a few brief descriptions about songs on the album several months before its release. he hinted at the instrumental of the song, saying:

“This one is piano with some strings poppin’. It’s just really pretty. A really somber metaphorically dying song.”
