For some reason getting lost was on the to do list for Laverna. All she really wanted was to get to one of the training rooms. It really wasn’t that much to ask for, but luck was never her strong suit. She reached out to tap the person walking past her at that moment. “I hate to be that person but could you tell me where one the training rooms are?” She hoped that they didn’t send her to the wrong place oddly enough it was kinda like the first day of classes all over again.

“Sure,” Brant replied with a small ghost of a smile. He never minded helping people, so long as they didn’t talk his ear off. He wasn’t doing much anyway. “Just follow me and I will show you how to get to the main training room.”

The top book on a stack of books on a shelf shuffles for a moment. Then just as quickly as it moved, it then lay still. After a moment or two however, the book flew open and a wave of fire erupted from the book and soon a portal rose from the pages, and a figure stepped out of it.  

Q then sucked his teeth for a moment as he sighed deeply. With a wave of his hand the portal disappeared and the book that remained seemed to be black. He sighed as he went to pick it up, the black mass falling into ash.

“Well, fuck me…..No idea how the hell she pulled this shit off….”

Brant had been reading his latest before when the commotion started. Upon seeing the portal, he immediately panicked and rose an energy shield to protect himself. He watched a young man stepped out of the portal and looked at him with a delicate frown. 

“Mind explaining what just happened?” He asked, not dropping the shield. Better to be safe and not sorry.

“I guess we are all a little destructive when we are just learning our gifts,” Brant replied kindly. “With great power comes great responsibility and I guess our understanding of that simple fact is why we are all here to better ourselves.”

“It would ease my mind if you did,” Brant replied, tentatively giving the ring to the other male. He was curious to see how he would prove his ownership of the strange looking object.

“Yes,” Brant replied with a small ghost of a smile. “It was a simple incantation. Works wonders on paper cuts and bruises. Nothing really wowing in the realm of magic. You should be okay now.”

Brant was not impressed. This kid obviously didn’t have well bred manners. Brant himself wasn’t Miss Manners, but he had been taught at a young age to leave others alone, especially if they were strangers. “Don’t you think if you’re going to spend time with people, that you shouldn’t make a bad impression and piss people off?”

Alaric was trying to use his phone camera to sea the cut on his forehead while cleaning it out with a wipe in the other hand, and failing horribly. “Sorry, I really don’t want to be a nuisance but could… could you help?” he asked the person that happened to be passing. “I kinda got hit by a training dummy that went flying across the training room”

Brant nodded wordlessly his assent. Instead of taking the wipe out of the other’s hands, he placed two fingers over the cut. He whispered a small healing spell in Norse, using his magic to heal the cut. 

“That should help,” he said quietly.

Damian walked on the beach, feeling the warm breeze glide over his wet skin. He had just jumped into the water since it was a particularity hot day. Living in a tropical island was a nice change of pace, things seemed more relaxing for Damian’s nerves. He had walked along the sand til he spotted someone in the water a small distance from him. 

He narrows his eyes and started to walk with his heel’s picked up. Steps silencing as he walks behind the oblivious target. He gets close enough his feet was almost in the water, and splashes the target with the ocean water. 

“that’s what you get for being in dream world!” He teases laughing.

"That was very rude," Brant replied, a hint of annoyance in his voice. He had hoped that no one would bother him while visiting the beach at night. Apparently this was a bad assumption to make. "Do you usually go around bothering strangers?"

Moving the last of his shit into the house was more of a chore than he was prepared for. Banner wasn’t his first choice in houses, but he figured he could make do.  With the last bag over his shoulder, he juggled small orbs of plasma as he walked and looked around

“Hmm, well, I’ll be damned, it’s a pretty swanky place they got here…” he trailed off as he walked.

Brant observed the newcomer with great interest, especially when he casually started walking toward the house and juggling what appeared to be somesort of plasma. It was an interesting sight.

“It’s very beautiful,” said Brant. “No doubt thanks to the generosity of our donors. It’s very spacious and quiet too.”

“I’m pretty sure,” Brant responded. There was very little on Earth that could harm him because of his Frost Giant heritage. He was very durable. Something he learned during the reckless days of his youth when playing in the woods.

“Yes, I’m in Research. However, I would not call myself a scientist. I’m more on the scholarly side. Focusing on magic.”

“It’s okay…I should have been more careful with my words. It is obvious to me now, after seeing you work a little that the car is more than a way to get around. It’s a part of you,” Brant answered her with a small smile. He moved a little, his muscles protesting the lack of movement.

“And yes, magic…I almost did not believe it too,” said Brant. “It wasn’t until I reached my teen years that I realized that magic was not only real, but a part of me. You see I’ve been instinctively used magic since I was an infant and never knew..and it’s a bit shocking to enter this world at first, but once you’re nothing surprises…as for the spandex…I think that’s optional. Or at least I hope it is.”

“Where did you want this, ma’am?” Lana walked through the corridor, effortlessly carrying a giant, heavy barrel of whatever was inside it ( she’d been told it was for the Research Division ) with one arm. The official woman thanked her, pointed at a spot in front of the Science Labs doors, and walked in, busy with her tablet. 

About to place the barrel down, Lara spotted someone on the other side of the barrel. “Hey –” she called out, “watch out, all right, I don’t think Legacy’s insurance covers death by barrel. Does it…?”

"Regardless of what is in the barrel I doubt it would harm me," Brant replied honestly. He moved out of the way regardless. It was best to move out of the way and let her get her task done. However, at the same, he had never seen such a large barrel brought into the Research Division before. He decided to inquire about it out of curiosity. 

 "Where and who is that barrel supposed to go?"

Oscar didn’t want to be here, not really. Everyone had a tendency to tell him what was best for him, even if he didn’t agree. All he wanted to do was hang out with his friends and lead a normal life, spend his time in the boxing ring, maybe beat a few people up. Now everything had been flipped on its head. He sat on a thick low branch of a tree, twirling his power ring between his fingers, staring at it like he might be able to understand what this was all about if he looked hard enough. Instead of learning anything, though, his fingers faltered and the green ring fell from his hands to the grass beneath him. He sighed and leaned forward, holding onto the branch. He found the closest person to him with his eyes and called out to them. “Hey. Think you could grab that for me?” He motioned down to the ground where the ring was sitting. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad just to leave it there. Would it find him again? Probably. That would be just his luck.

“Is it yours?” Brant asked him curiously. It was an odd looking ring, unlike anything he had ever seen. However, regardless of its strangeness, it belonged to it’s proper owner and he did not want it ending up in the wrong hands. He hoped this other man was the proper owner and not some thief.

Diego was working with his drum machine, lightly taping it with his fingers, nodding at the beat. It took a moment to get it where he needed it, but now he was feeling it. He was also beginning to feel a sneeze coming on. Aaaaaand there it was. As he sneezed, he heard the fabric of his jacket tear. He sighed as he looked up, noticing he now had company.

“……..It’s the wings, isn’t it?” he said softly as his wings fluttered for a moment.

Brant had no right to judge him on the wings. After all, Brant’s true form was a vision from a child’s nightmare. He bristled at the thought. He could not imagine what this man had go through with the wings. He winced in sympathy.

“No, the wings are good. The clothes bill must be a pain.”

“You’re certainly quite the philosopher,” Brant replied. He meant it earnestly, despite how sarcastic the comment might have sounded. She seemed like a rather deep and intelligent woman and he seemed to have a talent for sticking his foot in his mouth apparently. “And I am settled well enough. Yourself?”

Luna blushed faintly at the contact. It was friendly, but the casualness of it surprised her. No one had ever touched her like that outside of her own family. However, she wasn’t upset about it. It was just odd. She cocked her head to the side as she listened to him talk. She had never heard anyone describe her own feelings so accurately. “Yeah…that’s kinda how I feel….you feel that way too, huh?”

“I do, all the time,” Brant said with a forced laugh. “We should start a support group for people like us who have social anxiety.  We can call it the Awkward Turtle group, mainly because that seems to be the social term for social anxiety nowadays.”
