The Great Mother, also known as RD-000001-220500, was the original Repli-Doll. Based on the likeness of the late Amanda Hesting, the wife of the founder of Hesting robotics, she served as the basis for every Repli-Doll "born" since her creation. Her from takes on many of the features of standard Repli-Dolls; The white hair, the doll-like body and the pair of sensory fins on the side of her head, but she is also the only Repli-Doll to feature retinal optics with white sclera, and the seems of her joints are designed to hide as many joints as possible.
During the time she was online, opinions of her was split; Some saw her as the stepping stone towards more advanced, more competent automata, while others viewed her as a desperate man's attempt to bring back his dead wife. Regardless, she was witness to the first generation of mass production Repli-Dolls, serving as a metaphorical mother for them to aspire to, someone for them to apease like a child would do to a real mother.
Ten years after she came online, she was unceremoniously killed by anti-automata terrorists, a lone gunman managing to fire a gun upon her and destroying her processing unit. This loss was felt throughout the Repli-Dolls, with many rebelling against their creators while others chose to simply mourn her passing. This also coincided with the release of the second generation of Repli-Dolls, ones that were more advanced but also lacked their connection to the Great Mother.
Even so, these second generation dolls still seemingly prayed and mourned her loss, even those who had never seen nor heard of the Great Mother. I was as if the concept of the Great Mother was a deep seeded trait within Repli-Dolls. Even to the current and final generation of Repli-Dolls, the dolls that gained self-governance and rights equal to normal organic sophonts, the worship of the Great Mother still persisted.
Some report that, when a Repli-Doll goes offline permanently, they witness a glimpse of the Great Mother taking them to where she lives now. Many Repli-Dolls actively pray to her, murials of her form painted in areas where there are high numbers of Repli-Dolls.
