My second blog made to link with my AO3 account, mostly A Song of Ice and Fire-related things, along with stuff about my writing. Feel free to send me prompts!
If you do this with my fics, or anyone's fics, please know I HATE you. I hate you more than every troll comment, every "your writing sucks kys" comment, every "update soon" comment. I hate you. Other authors hate you. If you want my fic, you either WAIT for it or you pay me for it. And if you won't do one of those things, you don't deserve my fic or anyone else's.
Okay, so I’ve been in the process of re-writing an original sci-fi/fantasy/OKAY FINE VAMPIRE manuscript, and it’s been very frustrating for me lately, because it’s a ten year old story and I’ve been working on it off and on all that time and I’m just starting to get fatigued/bored. One thing I miss is the consistent feedback and subsequent motivation I get when I post fanfiction. I was lamenting this to a writer buddy who also writes original and fan fiction works, and she told me about Wattpad, where you can post anything, fic, original stuff, etc, and others can read and comment
::Big, shaky breath:: THAT BEING SAID, would any of y'all be interested/willing to check out some original stuff I’ve written and tell me what you think? I have three rewritten chapters already, about 20k words, and have started my chapter four. It’s been like pulling teeth and I know having some feedback and expectancy to post another chapter would help like you wouldn’t believe.
You all are just always so kind and supportive, so here I am, groveling with my hands shoved in my pockets, digging my toe in the dirt as I sheepishly ask for more of it.
This tool is optional. No one is required to use it, but it's here if you want to know which of your AO3 fics were scraped. Locked works were not 100% protected from this scrape. Currently, I don't know of any next steps you should be taking, so this is all informational.
Most people should use this link to check if they were included in the March 2025 AO3 scrape. This will show up to 2,000 scraped works for most usernames.
Or you can use this version, which is slower but does a better job if your username is a common word. This version also lets you look up works by work ID number, which is useful if you're looking for an orphaned or anonymous fic.
If you have more than 2,000 published works, first off, I am jealous of your motivation to write that much. But second, that won't display right on the public version of the tools. You can send me an ask (preferred) or DM (if you need to) to have me do a custom search for you if you have more than 2,000 total works under 1 username. If you send an ask off-anon asking me to search a name, I'll assume you want a private answer.
In case this post breaches containment: this is a tool that only has access to the work IDs, titles, author names, chapter counts, and hit counts of the scraped fics for this most recent scrape by nyuuzyou discovered in April 2025. There is no other work data in this tool. This never had the content of your works loaded to it, only info to help you check if your works were scraped. If you need additional metadata, I can search my offline copy for you if you share a work ID number and tell me what data you're looking for. I will never search the full work text for anyone, but I can check things like word counts and tags.
Please come yell if the tool stops working, and I'll fix as fast as I can. It's slow as hell, but it does load eventually. Give it up to 10 minutes, and if it seems down after that, please alert me via ask! Anons are on if you're shy. The link at the top is faster and handles most users well.
On mobile, enable screen rotation and turn your phone sideways. It's a litttttle easier to use like that. It works better if you can use desktop.
Some FAQs below the cut:
"What do I need to do now?": At this time, the main place where this dataset was shared is disabled. As far as I'm aware, you don't need to do anything, but I'll update if I hear otherwise. If you're worried about getting scraped again, locking your fics to users only is NOT a guarantee, but it's a little extra protection. There are methods that can protect you more, but those will come at a cost of hiding your works from more potential readers as well.
"I know AO3 will be scraped again, and I'm willing to put a silly amount of effort into making my fics unusable for AI!": Excellent, stick around here. I'm currently trying to keep up with anyone working on solutions to poison our AO3 fics, and I will be reblogging information about doing this as I come across it.
"I want my fics to be unusable for AI, but I wanna be lazy about it.": You're so real for that, bestie. It may take awhile, but I'm on the lookout for data poisoning methods that require less effort, and I will boost posts regarding that once I find anything reputable.
"I don't want to know!": This tool is 100% optional. If you don't want to know, simply don't click the link. You are totally welcome to block me if it makes you feel more comfortable.
"Can I see the exact content they scraped?": Nope, not through me. I don't have the time to vet every single person to make sure they are who they say they are, and I don't want to risk giving a scraped copy of your fic to anyone else. If you really want to see this, you can find the info out there still and look it up yourself, but I can't be the one to do it for you.
"Are locked fics safe?": Not safe, but so far, it appears that locked fics were scraped less often than public fics. The only fics I haven't seen scraped as of right now are fics in unrevealed collections, which even logged-in users can't view without permission from the owner.
"My work wasn't a fic. It was an image/video/podfic.": You're safe! All the scrape got was stuff like the tags you used and your title and author name. The work content itself is a blank gap based on the samples I've checked.
"It's slow.": Unfortunately, a 13 million row data dashboard is going to be on the slow side. I think I've done everything I can to speed it up, but it may still take up to 10 minutes to load if you use the second link. It's faster if you can use desktop or the first link, but it should work on your phone too.
"My fic isn't there.": The cut-off date is around February 15th, 2025 for oneshots, but chapters posted up to March 21st, 2025 have been found in the data so far. I had to remove a few works from the dataset because the data was all skrungly and breaking my tool. (The few fics I removed were NOT in English.) Otherwise, from what I can tell so far, the scraper's code just... wasn't very good, so most likely, your fic was missed by random chance.
Thanks to everyone who helped with the cost to host the tool! I appreciate you so so so much. As of this edit, I've received more donations than what I paid to make this tool so you do NOT need to keep sending money. (But I super appreciate everyone who did help fund this! I just wanna make sure we all know it's all paid for now, so if you send any more that's just going to my savings to fix the electrical problems with my house. I don't have any more costs to support for this project right now.)
(Made some edits to the post on 27-May-2025 to update information!)
I have saved backups on my computer of everything, but I'd really rather not have to take them down from AO3. They are locked, though. If you want to read them, you need to log in to access them. Also, feel free to download and save for any personal use.
As of the time of this post, AO3 has been scraped by yet another shady individual looking to make a quick buck off the backs of hardworking hobby writers. This Reddit post here has all the details and the most current information. In short, if your fic URL ends in a number between 1 and 63,200,000 (inclusive), AND is not archive locked, your fic has been scraped and added to this database.
I have been trying to hold off on archive locking my fics for as long as possible, and I've managed to get by unscathed up to now. Unfortunately, my luck has run out and I am archive locking all of my current and future stories. I'm sorry to my lovelies who read and comment without an account; I love you all. But I have to do what is best for me and my work. Thank you for your understanding.
When you write, do you have the storyline largely figured out or do you make it up as you go? Do you work with a beta? Any tips for a new comer? I have sooo many ideas... Where to start? Meme? Where are they? Thank you so much :)
Hi Anon!
I usually have it largely figured out. For The Unpaid Debt I actually blocked out the entire thing on paper at the laundromat, lol, but for the others I usually get an idea and know the beginning, middle and end. Some details may change but then usually after I’ve written a few chapters and really get the feel for the story, I start blocking out my chapters. I have done this for Cut and Run, for example, but it’s changed already because the length is changing and I had to spread some stuff out.
I do not use a beta BUT I have sent stuff out to @paperflowercrowns, @vanillacoconuts, @frozensnares and swimmingfox on Ao3.They are extremely helpful and supportive and offer me advice more on how the story is shaping up than with grammar.
Tips for a newcomer? JUST WRITE! Write write write, never stop experimenting with your style, with your POVs, with your tenses and sentence structure. Have fun but honestly, just write. If you have a lot of ideas, that sounds to me like a lot of stories waiting to be told, so go for it!
Thanks for the great questions, Anon, and good luck! I can’t wait to read your stuff. :)
NOT TO MAKE THIS WEIRD OR ANYTHING BUT THAT IS VERY FUCKING METAL OF YOU TO SAY, THANKS A LOT, AND WOULD YOU PERHAPS LIKE TO BE FRIENDS AND TELL ME ALL (READ: LITERALLY EVERYTHING) ABOUT EXACTLY WHICH BAND MY LITTLE STORY HELPED YOU DISCOVER AND WHICH SONGS BY THEM ARE YOUR FAVOURITE?!
ALSO, if you’re into Rickeen now, I strongly recommend reading just absolutely everything FrozenSnares has ever written about them, because she is the Captain of this ship and just a completely excellent person besides <3
Yeah I actually found it while prepping for brain surgery, and was incredibly relieved that it was a built-in feature and not something I’d have to leave convoluted instructions about or whatever. It’s a bit morbid, sure, but it’s a great feature.
This is a feature designed by women who’d been in fandom for decades, and who had faced the issue of, “X is dead, and we know she loved fandom, so… can we reprint her stories? Who can decide? Her family knows fuck-all about fandom. Who was her best friend? Do they know if she would’ve liked her story to be reprinted in the Best Of OTP Fic zine?”
Running across that once doesn’t make you think about a policy, but by the time it’s five to ten times, and then you’ve seen people vanish from the internet (might be dead; might just be not interested anymore) and nobody knows whether it’s okay to collect their fic in an archive or transfer it to a new one….
Yeah, the FNoK policy is one of the awesome things about AO3.
Fanfic writers really said "in any universe, in any scenario, despite any obstacle, these people would love each other" and I think that's very cool of us
If you have an Ao3 Account please vote for the Number of User Subscriptions you have and then reblog (no need to add anything in the tags, this can remain anonymous)
User Subscriptions in this context describe the number of people subscribed to your profile on Ao3. You can see the number under Statistics (its the very first) - if you Ao3 profile doesn't have a Statistics button that means you have 0 (ZERO) user subscriptions - no shame in that.
THE STARKS ARE BY FAR THE MOST PROLIFIC FAMILY IN THE UPPER ECHELONS OF SOCIETY
⠀ Rickon Stark is not the easiest of boys.
Okay, fine, he’s not easy at all, so much that his mother is having a hard time finding a match for him. And while he humors her by frequenting society more and more, he has also been spending time with a notable figure of the aristocracy, Ser Davos Seaworth. The old man, who was born in the lowers ranks of society and had fallen in favors with one of the noblest lords in Westeros, had not grown apart of his acid amusements and sharp tongue. He was definitely Rickon’s favorite person on the land.
And this is how he meets Lady Shireen Baratheon.
The only daughter of that same lord who has made Ser Davos rise in society, Lady Shireen is the kindest person to walk this Earth. She’s also highly rejected by her family because of her appearance, the big scar that covers great part of her face making both of her parents see her as unfit for all the duties she should perform as their only heir. All of this makes Ser Davos grow fond of the girl, having her almost as his own kin.
When Shireen finds a diary from a dead relative, she’ll end up having Rickon’s help to discover her place in the family that dislikes her at the same time he will learns that the right person never cares about having it easy.
Behind (Sigorn & Alys) stood the queen, with her daughter and her tattooed fool. Princess Shireen was wrapped in so many furs that she looked round, breathing in white puffs through the scarf that covered most of her face.
Shireen Baratheon… The Stag’s Daughter. Forged by war, fury, and the true steel. Thwarted death, disease, and underestimated them all. Her father would be so proud.
