— WRITEBLR INTRODUCTION
Hello! I’m Anna Lisa. I’m thirty years old, non-binary (she/they), and I live in the midwest. Since I’ve decided to take my writing more seriously, and I’m back in college, I’ve decided to make a writeblr / studyblr. I’m in school to be a vet tech, mostly because I adore animals. I also work as a vet/kennel assistant. But I still love writing, and I don’t expect I’ll stop putting my plots to paper (or screen) any time soon.
I do have a tendency to start and then abandon wips, something that I hope that having this writeblr will help with. I’d love to post excerpts from first drafts, find writing tips and inspiration, and eventually post (some) of my stories on Wattpad (or ao3!).
I also have accounts on twitter, wattpad, and archive of our own.
— MY WIPS
Saltmate
Sadie Nelson’s summer is off to an awful start.
Her first year in high school has been a disaster, with failed classes and more detentions than she’d care to admit. With summer school the only thing to look forward too, she doesn’t think it can get worse — until her parents sit down and tell her they’re getting a divorce. The news comes as a devastating kind of relief. She can’t wait for the fighting to end, even if it means split holidays.
So when her parents send her off to her aunt’s house in Newfoundland for the rest of the summer, she figures things can’t get much worse. Her Aunt Claire is content to leave her alone while she works on her art, and Sadie spends most of her days by the seaside, wandering or drawing boats, and lost in thought.
When she finds a strange girl on an abandoned cove, far from town, Sadie is quick to try and make her first friend in St. Brenden’s Bay. But her new friend is stranger than she realizes — and what does her Aunt have to do with her?
Bloodbound
The first time Olivia Geisler wished that she could run away from home, she was eight. Her parents were fighting again, and she couldn’t take one more second of shouting. So she packed her backpack and called her grandma to pick her up.
Olivia never did really run away. But she’s never forgotten that night’s realization that she wouldn’t have to live with her parents forever. Now, graduated from high school, she’s preparing to go to college; to finally move out for the first time. It’s terrifying and exhilarating at the same time, even if she’ll only be three hours away.
When Olivia meets her college-assigned roommate, she’s a little disappointed. Helen Sinclair isn’t a bad roommate, by any means. She’s quiet and studious and leaves Olivia’s stuff alone. But she’s also totally anti-social, nocturnal, and completely unwilling to make friends with Olivia at all.
But the reason for her odd behavior becomes obvious when Olivia turns on the news to find that the United States government has found proof that vampires exist.
Now Olivia must choose a side. Her roommate, who’s never given her the time of day? The school board, who wants to find all vampires on campus and kick them out of school? Or the U.S. government, who wants to round up the vampires.
But there are darker forces at play in their small college town, and Helen is already entangled in them.
