some stuff that would be cool in the next animal crossing:

having your other characters be active in the town while you play on your main (see them walking/fishing/talking to villagers, etc..)

being able to take pictures with villagers (think of the Sims 4 camera skill) and frame the pics

placing public works projects the way you place furniture in ACHHD

being able to play the live version of KK’s songs in your house

a path building system that’s something more developed than placing patterns on the ground one by one

mean villagers that you really have to work hard to get to like you/having to work harder for friendships in general

you know how sometimes a villager is like “oooh I heard _____ and _____ were together on the beach” I want those things to be REAL. i want DRAMA. give me the hot gossip being able to go in the river

placing villager houses (obviously)

bring back notes in a bottle, have them be something that you can receive from random players all over the world

seeing NPCs around the town when their shop is closed

Also being able to choose skin colour and eye shape at the start!!! This one is less realistic but I’d really love it if when you make a second character, yku could make it an animal! And you’d be able to choose eye shape at the start (like with people) and change everything else about what it’d look like in shampoodles!

can you IMAGINE if we could make animals that would be so fun omg and yes some sort of character creation like hhd!!

-also i’d love to be able to release bugs in your house tbh, like have a butterfly room

- integrating the room sound effects feature from hhd (honestly everything should transfer)

- more differentiation between villager houses maybe? more fitting the animal that lives there (bird houses are lofted, aquatic creatures get a submarine-esque looking house)

- more interactive competitions/festivals between villagers (i’ve played one too many fishing tourneys)

- also just some of the mystery coming back that i felt wild world had a bunch of? idk i feel like a lot of the games i played when i was younger had weird cut scenes/rare events or characters that were super hard to meet but new leaf felt too open (although the surveillance center gave me a bit of this feel) but maybe this is just my childhood nostalgia creeping in haha
