RAW PEPPERMINT SLICE 🌿✨👋🏼 This weekend I’ve been out of the kitchen hiking the Tongariro Crossing, over a volcano in the middle of New Zealand’s North Island 🌋🌿 I am currently sunburnt and achy, but this slice from @punnetcafe on the way home restored my energy stores! Mint, crisp and chocolatey 🌱 I will share some photos of the hike on my blog later on this week!
A very clever conservation campaign in Nairobi.
Bagel Monday is a thing, right?!🌸😂💐🤤🌷
Give yourself permission to immediately walk away from anything that gives you bad vibes. There is no need to explain or make sense of it. Just trust what you feel. ✨
And avocado with lambs lettuce gives me #positivevibes peeps 😜🥑 had it with some spuds, cucumber and fresh basil 💛
Life is better with you in it, Avocado🥑💚 I can say that avocados are a huge part of my life, these little beauties have been the glitter on meals for a solid 5 years now, I can’t believe that for the first 23 years of my life I didn’t like avo or appreciate it. It makes me sad to think all that I missed out on:( but I sure am making up for lost time now heheh I eat an avocado a day! Keeps my hormones balanced, has supported my body immensely during both pregnancies, been the first food for my babies, keeps my breastmilk fatty, my skin clear and dewy, my hair smooth, my gut happy, my heart strong and my smile large. Sounds like I’m talking about a person haha #avocado
people that make fun of vegetarians/vegans for standing up for animals rights make me gag. if that is what helps you sleep at night, go ahead, but damn you are a shit person. i don’t tell you not to eat meat, i am just informing you that animals are suffering while you turn a blind eye. get the fuck over yourself.
Here’s a few reasons to consider a plant-based diet 😊 1. The World Bank states than animal agriculture is responsible for up to 91% of amazon destruction. 2. The USA National Academy of Sciences found that plant based diets require 18 times less land than a meat inclusive diet 3. As far back as 1997 Cornell University released articles stating that the grain used to feed livestock in the US alone could feed 800 million people and end world hunger 4. The FAO calculated that livestock and feed occupies ONE THIRD of the earth’s ice-free land 5. The Environmental Protection Agency states that animal agriculture is the LEADING cause of species extinction ocean dead zones, water pollution and habitat destruction 6. Studies published by McGill and Minnesota Universities show that we are currently growing enough food to feed 10 billion people, the issue isn’t scarcity it’s allocation. 7. UNICEF writes that over 80% of starving children live in countries where food is fed to animals which are then eating by western countries. 8. The Water Footprint Network suggests that each day you eat a plant based diet you consume 4100 less litres of water. 9. The UN has found that more than ¾ of the world’s fisheries are exploited or depleted. 10. Countless of peer-reviewed studies have scientifically proven that plant-based diets can prevent and even reverse chronic illnesses and diseases of affluence. #chooseplants #sustainableliving (à Greenhouse Cafe)
Happy because I managed to pull off 1st woman in a @parkrunau again after a few weeks off running because of a sore knee 🙃 even though it’s not a proper race and my time is not medal worthy or anything I’m still proud because I’ve never been good at sport and tbh barely did exercise through my teens, so feels good to be fit enough to not find a 5k the hardest thing in the world 🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️ #thesmallthings #parkrun #parkrunau (à Golden Beach, Sunshine Coast)
Is Durianrider and Freelees advice (of 2013ish) like 2500-3000 calories, raw til 4, 80/10/10 or 90/5/5 outdated? Has everyone moved on from that and learnt better? Should I still be listening to their message? Will raw till 4 make me fat like lots of people say? Please help, I’m new to this and confused about who’s message to follow
Okay well…
Obviously the sugar and white rice/bananas diet is something that I strongly disagree with and have spoken out about before, but overall the rawtill4, fruit based, 80/10/10, super low fat high carb, to me is I guess what I would call outdated. I don’t know anyone still following those guidelines, and more importantly everyone I know that started rawtill4 around the time I did is no longer following it.
Have I moved on and learnt better? Yes
Now I will admit, I did get really sucked into that way of eating and for a short period of time I even thought it was the BEST/only way to eat. I literally cringe at some of the things I use to say. I looked up to both Harley and freelee and really believe everything they said. When I first came to rawtill4, “hclf” yes I felt great. I was coming from a calorie restrictive diet based around animal products. So at the beginning I had lots of energy and became very passionate about helping others and spreading the word!!! But over the course of about a year I realized, it wasn’t satisfying me like it use to, my energy levels were very up and down, my skin wasn’t healing (I had skin problems before going vegan) and it was even getting worse. I was craving more foods like beans and avocado and feeling guilty because they were seen as “not ideal”…. *face palm*. Of course Tim was also having issues like acne that he never had experienced before upping the fruit and sugar intake.
I started looking more into other plant based doctors and began to change my diet. At first it was a fairly slow change like having cooked food for lunch, and then cooked food for all meals and I started to feel better and better. Then only in the last 6 months did I really stop following the 80/10/10 guideline, and listen to my body instead. It was a huge learning experience.
I hope that unlike some others on YouTube I will be able to admit my mistakes/ continue to learn and not be afraid to share my changes with you. I have learnt that I don’t know everything, and I should never just follow blindly someone else.
I have realised the importance of plant based fats and proteins, and everything about my overall health has improved since adding lots more beans, tofu, avocado, nuts, seeds, and VEGGIES. The rawtill4 diet didn’t focus on veggies enough in my opinion!
I’m not saying that fruit is bad, just in my experience a fruit based diet didn’t work for me long term, and I feel much better doing what I’m doing now. I know eat fruit is small qualities, like a mango with breakfast or 1-2 bananas in my acai bowl. I do know very few people that thrive on a high fruit diet, eg Ellen fisher, however she has access to the best quality fruits in the world and has tweaked her diet over the years to suit her needs.
So I guess my answer to you is. My recommendations for people going vegan is to eat a wholefoods, plant based diet. So yes it’s still going to be high carb because most plant foods are high carb, but add in your legumes, veggies, greens and fats to each meal! This way of waiting is supported by science and and many doctors, it’s NOT a FAD. Doctors have show that the healthiest civilizations primarily eat a whole foods plant based balanced diet! Of course it’s up to you to decide what makes you feel you best. Listen to your body, tweak and experiment with your diet to suit your needs.
Lunch 🍞🔥 Avocado, lime, and chili flakes! I added plenty of coriander after taking this photo too. 📸🌱 I discovered that Heart Space Whole Foods sells freshly made artisan bread, delivered Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. I picked up a sourdough boule for £3 this Thursday. It should last me a few days. 😋 Not a bad price for tasty small batch bread!
Whoever tells you that vegan food is boring is soooo wrong🤗 taco bowl for dinner today🌮 there’s kale, lettuce, lime and cilantro rice, black beans, tomatoes, corn, red peppers, onion, avocado and topped with lime juice and nutritional yeast (after I took the picture I put like a cup of extra nooch #guilty) 🌯 all of this is salt free, gluten free, oil free👅
Eat yo greens people, even if that means drowning your salad in avo🌱 lunch was potatoes 🍠 with roasted chickpeas, broccoli, mushrooms with a side of avo and tomatoes salad🐢 topped with sirracha and mustard 👌
