Struggling to Stay Awake (08/30/17)
I don't spoil my pets at all.
Seared Steaks & Thyme Pan Sauce (08/30/17)
I continue to be a big fan of the fried shallots, and they were a nice little bonus to a meal that tasted great as it was. I added extra garlic to the sauce, but everything else was the same. I really like the meal combo of beef/potatoes/beans, so I was quite happy here. I could always use more potatoes, but this had a decent amount of the mashed potatoes. The sauce didn’t look very pretty, but it tasted great so it didn’t matter. I would make this again.

Caramello’s Foot (08/30/17)
Just chillin' in the pig bed with his foot out (and probably pooping, lbr).
A Baby Blanket for Stella (08/28/17)
So I definitely bought Stella a baby blanket to go in her crate. Poppy got a sized-up crate, so I took the one that was too small for her to use for Stella at home. I didn’t want to stuff one of my blankets inside for a variety of reasons, one being that it would be way too huge. I figured that a baby blanket would be the right size for what I wanted and for Stella’s purposes, and I managed to find a cute one at Target. When she’s not in her cage, I keep the blanket on her dog bed, and she seems to be pretty happy about that. She isn’t happy when I bring out the crate for her, but that’s not unexpected. As long as she’s comfortable, I’m satisfied.
Miso Chicken Ramen (08/28/17)
I’m a big fan of the fresh ramen noodles that Blue Apron occasionally includes, so naturally I jumped on getting this meal. While I’m sure that cutting the corn of the cob must give it some freshness/flavor boost, I kinda wish that they’d just send a can of de-cobbed kernels. I really liked the flavor of the sauce/marinade here, and I’m glad that I have enough miso paste on my own to remake this. I liked the tomatoes in this meal, and the cucumber was okay, if not a favorite. Everything worked together nicely and reheated well, and I would make this again.

Sideways Chewing (08/27/17)
Poppy continues to be a weirdo who periodically likes to chew on things while lying on her side. I don’t understand how this could be comfortable.
Please Go to Sleep (08/25/17)
Someone was being quite the booger about going to bed. Usually she’s lively for a little bit before she goes into her cage on her own, but that wasn’t happening this night. It took some time for me to get her to be willing to go into her cage and go to sleep. Of course this had to happen the evening before I had to go in for one of my earlier work days. Luckily this doesn’t happen all that often, but it was frustrating at the time.
Happy Halloween!
I managed to get a few good shots of the boys before I needed to charge my camera’s battery. They were relatively cooperative with the most difficult thing being getting them out of their cage. Stella wasn’t cooperative at all, so I don’t have an official Halloween photo for her. I guess I need to work with her on posing for holiday photos.
I hope everyone has a fun Halloween and gets lots of candy!

Blue Apron Delivery (08/24/17)
This delivery contained ingredients for:
Miso Chicken Ramen
Seared Steaks & Thyme Pan Sauce
Sweet Pepper & Summer Squash Fajitas
Enjoying Nature (08/23/17)
I decided to enjoy the beautiful weather outside with Stella before I went in to make dinner. Stella took her usual perch up on me instead of wandering around.
Sleepy Stella (08/22/17)
Stella is a big fan of when I take advantage of the fact that my couch can be recliner. She’s very happy to pass out on the blanket over my legs. This can only be so comfortable for me for so long, so I try to appreciate how cute she is in the meantime.
Chicken & Cherry Tomato Sauce (08/21/17)
I’ve finally learned that I have to cook my chicken a little bit longer on each side to get it to look like it does on the recipe cards’ pictures. I already cook the steaks longer than directed because I like them more well-done, so it’s not much of a change to do it for the chicken, too. I liked how seemingly simple this meal was while providing a ton of great flavor. I really like cooking cherry tomatoes like this, and the sauce they made was quite tasty (and colorful!). This went nicely with the beans and farro. I really liked how the meal tasted as a whole, and I would easily make this again.

Mosaic Geraniums (08/21/17)
I love how these Mosaic geraniums' flowers look. I'm so glad I was able to find them again this year! Hopefully I’ll be lucky next year as well.
First Tomato (08/20/17)
I picked my first tomato for the season, and I’m pretty pleased with how cute and perfect it was.
Stella in the Grass (08/20/17)
I decided to sit out on the grass with Stella on her tie-out lead, hoping that would encourage her to wander a bit more. As you can see, she chose to lie down by me and observe her neighborhood instead.
Comfy Caramello (08/20/17)
I aspire to the level of comfort that Caramello has achieved here .
Reese’s Eyes (08/19/17)
Poor Reese had to put up with eye drops for conjunctivitis (or piggy pinkeye, as I liked to call it). His eyes had been tearing up pretty regularly even though the cage was clean, so I took him to vet to be examined. He was not a fan of that process. Luckily his eye wasn’t scratched and he had no other signs of illness, so he was prescribed eye drops. I'm very glad it wasn't anything more serious, and he was surprisingly good about the eye drops. He protested being picked up more than he did getting the eye drops, but I think he was just shocked by the whole process. Luckily the eye drops did the trick, and Caramello didn’t catch anything either.
