For once, as a bisexual and a Fraxus shipper : Shipping a canon gay character with a female oc is not homophobic. What in the hell are these people doing these days? Firstly I'm not obligated to accpet the entirity of the canon depiction of a character or a pairing, and that's what fanon is for. Fanarts and fanfics are for. If they can ship canon straight characters like Natsu and Gray, who have never in their entire screentime showed any form of attraction towards the same sex, with each other and not have any backlash from the sane part of the fandom then why is a harmless straight Freed ship considered homophobic? Why can't it be : I simply don't like the canon Freed so I'll ship him with my oc or any other female character. If they can make a gay ship out of two straight characters, why can't others make a straight ship involving a canon gay character? And I'm saying all this as a Freed-lover and Fraxus shipper. Due to the fear of getting cancelled by the majority of the fandom who ship Fraxus (including me), a lot of people don't express their ideas about Freed. One of the reasons we have so less fanworks of him. I want people to show him more love with different pairings and all, not just as a love interest for Laxus. Before being a Fraxus fan, I'm a Freed fan and mostly I don't like the canom depiction of the ship.

I find this baffling too, like people aren’t obligated to go by canon depiction of sexualities. Most of the people don’t and prefer making their own versions of it. I simply don’t get why a straight Freed ship might be so offending to some people. It all depends on different choices. Freed can be shipped with both a female/male oc. That shouldn’t be considered homophobic at all since they aren’t hurting anyone. Let Mashima do his job with canon and let us fans decide how we can show love to a character or a pairing. It can be canon-friendly or the other way around.

In general, it's problematic because LGBT characters are underrepresented in the media, so: if you change a character's sexual orientation, it's like you're deleting a necessary representation. Just think of the fact that in FT Freed is one of the few explicitly LGBT characters, so it can be frustrating that the only queer character is made straight when you have a huge number of characters to play with. And this reasoning obviously doesn't work the other way around (changing a straight person's orientation).

Now, in general I could agree with this, actually regarding the Fanfiction world, this reasoning doesn't hold up in my opinion. It doesn't hold up because the amount of fanfiction with LGBT characters is high, just go on Ao3 in the FT fandom and see how many Gratsu Stingue and Fraxus fanfiction are, these three ships are in the top10 and Gratsu is not even mentioned in the manga. In general, in all fandoms the amount of mlm fanfiction is high. So, since these characters aren't underrepresented in fanfiction, I don't see the problem. Also, even if there was the problem, accusing a person of being homophobic just because they changed a character's sexual orientation is ridiculous. Most of the time a character's sexuality isn't changed with malicious intent, but just for fun (especially if it's a character x oc fanfiction, where usually the writer empathizes with the oc because they have some sort of crush - sorry I don't know how else to say it- for the character).

So yes, I can understand the frustration, but I find these complaints and these homophobic accusations unnecessarily annoying. And I say this as a big supporter of Fraxus Stingue and Chendy. Let's remember that Fanfictions are just a small corner where writers have fun, let them do it.

Laxus gives me a lot of gay vibes, not because of Freed/Fraxus (although I might be biased) but because he represents the typical stereotype of the gay asshole who has to remind everyone how alpha and masculine and strong is, and how he is surrounded by hot girls; who then has an arc where he goes from an asshole to a good guy, and it turns out that not only is he actually nicer than you expected, but when girls flirt with him, he's uncomfortable and doesn't know what to do and he stands there with his arms crossed hoping they’ll walk away quickly. (Besides the fact that he is one of the few men who has never shown interest in any woman).

Funny how people complain about how two characters can't stay close without being shipped by someone. But they only do it with lgbt couples. And above all, they say this by referring to a page that was clearly created to have fun with wlw couples. Seriously, what do you think a wlw blog will reblog? Obviously it will take everything exist to ship two people, it was created specifically for that!!! The blog post content on crack ship, do you expect it not to do it with two people who have a strong friendship?

1-as I said, I understand if it bothers you if your art is reblogged with tags you don't like. I was referring to official art that everyone interprets as they prefer

2-while understanding the annoyance (on official art, I repeat), really, it's just a tag.

3-ok, I can be biased and I don't want to be a cringe victim etc, but you understand that I follow a wlw blog to have fun with my ships, and I have to find an anon complaining about a tag under an official art. Well,ok, understandable, if it ended there I wouldn't have done anything. But after a few days I see on the profile of a person I follow (because I like nalu), an anon who keeps complaining about that tag. What should one honestly think about?

4-I literally don't give a damn about who people ship. I care that I have to find people complaining about nothing just under wlw ships (again, i don't want to be biased, so i'm ready to question myself and listen to you, but i follow a lot of ships, straight or lgbt, and usually these problems arise in lgbt blogs). The anon complained to the blog, well, they got their answer on how mods prefer to handle the page, well, since they disagrees, they can just block the page, right?

Not one of my favorite ships, but I like Gruvia, so this isn't anti Gruvia. It's a nice ship with a lot of potential and I also think the body swap battle is fun. The only thing I didn't understand about the 100yq and I still don't understand is: why should Gray become a better man for Juvia? Like, it doesn't make sense to me, I understand Jellal wanting to be a better man for Erza after what he did, but Gray never did anything wrong, right? No hate, I just want to understand if I missed something :)

Yeah, it's frustrating to see the art getting reposted. Like, I checked out ravewoodx again and one of the art they reposted I recognized. The frustrating part was that, I couldn't recall the artist name or remember if they had posted the art on tumblr before. I actually went down the ship tag to look for the artist, but after some scrolling kinda gave up. (And guess what? In the ship tag i found other reposted ship art -_-)

There is something frustrating about seeing people saying they ship the pairs that have the most chemistry/evolution, don't ship any mlm or wlw pairs, even though there’s chemistry/evolution. And it's even more frustrating to see that they interpret as aro only characters involved in lgbt ships, or ship them with other people they have less interactions with.

I can understand that straight people will tend not to be involved in lgbt ships, but I'd like them to at least recognize the potential of a ship, especially when it has moments that are very, very similar to other couples that they actually ship.

Fraxus Week 2022 - Preparation

why do you include fraxus and not miraxus? :/

Why not? or Why should I include Miraxus and not Fraxus?

Fraxus just makes much more sense to me personally. I’m still not sure why Miraxus is put on such a high pedestal by so many people or set to a same level as the Big 4. Even after the last manga chapter.

If Mashima had initiated them as a couple he would have done much more between them and in the last chapter he made this even clearer. For example, Elfman and Evergreen don’t appear as often as others but the romantic aspect is very clear.

I really tend to get involved in ships that have visible on-panel relationships that are meaningful. Two people that have made it more than clear that they mean a lot to each other.

Nalu isn’t strictly canon as in confirmed to be in a relationship or in love but it’s so clear how much they care for each other. I love them so much and people can tell me what they want, but they are beautiful.

Gruvia, Jerza, Gajevy, Zervis and Elfever are pretty much all canon. Not all of them are in a relationship but the feelings are confirmed.

Stingue, Chendy and Fraxus are lgbtq+ ships but that doesn’t make them any less valid.

For Fraxus in particular they have various on-panel canon interactions and there are also many moments that indicate how much they care for each other. They also have the one or other on-panel parallel with one of the bigger ships.

Mashima didn’t pair up Freed or Laxus with anybody else in the end and he also didn’t have Freed or Laxus be interested in anybody else like they care for each other and that makes it even more believable.

It’s big or small moments but basically what I’m saying is that Fraxus has more of what bigger couples like the Big 6 (counting the Big 4 + Elfever and Zervis) have as the series went on, and Miraxus doesn’t.

It’s only fair to judge the ships by the same or similar standards.

It’s basically the same with Chendy and Rowen, too.

Chelia and Wendy have an important on-panel relationship. Rowen basically started to exist because they’re the same age. When the ship became popular they didn’t have a single interaction yet and not much has changed since then.

This could be an entire debate, but this is my point of view. Everyone can ship what they want, I have crack ships I really like, but it just makes more sense.
