They’re pretty rough, but these are the concepts I’ve come up with!

Some character design thoughts under cut, none of the lore things are 100% set in stone:

Auroras universe is stained glass themed, in order to match all the ice in the primrose archipelago. It’s mostly a normal city, but the buildings are all very castle and greenhouse like. Her magic came from a spider she found in her library. Her webs are little hanging stars!

Jay’s universe is very art nouveau, and it’s mostly a regular city but with art nouveau architecture and a lot of statues. Due to the portals in the universe, Jay gets bit by a spider while Ava is already spider woman, which leads to Faye killing her in order to control the anomalies. Jay’s webs are glowing teal and are shot out of her gun.

Chips world is textured like the weathered paper of a treasure map, his “city” is a huge fleet of pirate ships all traveling together. His spider magic came from when he was killed by captain widow and given a heart by the dread queen. His webs are ship rigging ropes.

Gillion’s world is inspired by Monet’s Impressionism, his world is half underwater half above water. He got his magic from pelagus instead of a spider. His webs are his glowing water magic that pull him forward.

Since the whole concept of the backrooms is the place itself not being able to reconfigure the real world ive been thinking; would it be able to mimic chemical structures? Specifically ive been thinking about people wandering into certain places in the backrooms and losing their sanity or becoming sick or dying due to a chemical imbalance in the air because the place cant properly remake the nitrogen and oxygen we breathe
