thinking about posting more of my non-warriors art on here, as much as i love cats and will still keep posting them, i’m excited to draw some more of my other passions and share original characters and stories!!

Oooh I love your cats so muuuuch. I have a lot of trouble choosing colors, they always end up looking very ugly together and when i pick "realistic" colors out of photos they all end up looking grayish and ugly... How do you choose these colors? Do you have any advice? I love how vibrant and warm they look and how good they combine together!

aww thanks anon! i’m no expert on coloring but here’s a few tips i’ve found to be helpful:

- i always color on a neutral toned background as i find it helps me see the colors better in comparison to each other without the brightness of a white bg (personally i use a desaturated green because it makes reds and oranges look a lot warmer in comparison)

- as for picking colors, something i did a lot in practice to help improve my color choices was to pick shades i liked directly off of other’s artworks, this helped me to learn where on the color spectrum the colors i liked were, and after a while you begin to learn the right mixes of hue and saturation to produce similar colors

-practice, practice, practice!!! i know it’s a cliche but it really does make a difference ;3c
