Bonus:
This is the second comic in my Open World AU, where Caine and Kinger work together to make the circus more "human-friendly", including always-open personalized worlds and more bodily autonomy. Pomni and Jax discuss their newfound ability to change their clothes as they wish.
if this isn't what happened i'll be sorely disappointed
I mainly ask because my poses are very stiff especially with jax, pomni is ok, but I struggle with jaxs body and mimics a lot. I loved the way u drew him and I'd like to know how did u reach that lvl! Tysm!
If your main concern is stiffness in your posing, then I definitely have a few tips for you that I can't recommend enough. Number one being the importance of your Line Of Action. The idea of this is to make poses more dynamic by building off an incredibly simple plan.
Jax has a wonderful, long, skinny body, so he's actually ideal model to practice posing through line of action with; he's like a stick figure! Let me give a very basic example of how a "line of action" can improve even a standing pose with Jax.
^ ^ ^ In this first image above, no line of action is used. I essentially started drawing Jax piece-by-piece. I know what he looks like, and what each of his limbs and parts looks like, so this drawing is clearly, technically, our boy Jax standing with his usual cheeky smile.
In this below image, I planned his pose using line of action.
^ ^ ^ Here, without the constraints of trying to make Jax look like "Jax" straight away, I was able to plan a less stiff, more dynamic standing pose. I'm well practiced with Line of Action, and most if not all of my character drawings start with a line like this one that I just hide by cleaning up the sketch. Here are some more examples:
Sorry they're real untidy and like. Unfinished. I really just wanna showcase the L.O.A. Notice how further planning by marking where shoulders and hips can also help with poses.
Thank you for your questions! I hope my answer was helpful to you.
Caine throws a 'slumber party' for the circus group. No one is particularly enthusiastic about it, but especially Jax.
