Hey! I just watched the whole series and was very moved by it as a former athlete myself. However, I am still perplexed whether Martin loved Danny as well. In my opinion he also loved Danny and was either bi or gay; he did not want to dissapoint his family further and thus tried to shut this part of himself. Also, it seems that Coach Torma and Martin's sister both knew of Danny's and Martin's relationship and sexuality, but were always supportive. What do you think of all this? Thanks mate:)

imho Martin was in love with Danny too but he chose the seemingly easier way out (also, as you mentioned before, he didn’t want to disappoint his parents a second time/ be a “failure” again) - so he married a girl. To me, his weird reaction (”Piss off!”) to Danny’s I fucking loved you! showed that very clearly. Having said that, I know that Martin was obviously straight in the book, so maybe they were just queerbaiting us... >_<

Shows you how far behind in my TV viewing…I’ve just gotten around to watching the Logies now (well, I’m watching a bit at a time, but I only began that process yesterday)…and when I saw he won tonight, I thought, ooh does Abby know! But of course you do! ;-)

You’re not missing anything Abby. The Logies are a bit of cultural cringe you watch for some laughs. I mean there are some good bits and deserving winners.
But problem is it’s a mash-up of ‘outstanding’ awards - which are peer voted and based on talent - and most popular (which they now call ‘best’ to try and hide that fact) awards, which are voted on by the general public. They are at least more slightly representative of the general public now. But originally to vote, you had to be a TV Week magazine (they are the TV Week Logies, after all!). And the ‘top’ award of the night is the most popular personality on TV. Which again is all voted on by the public, so really, hardly the most prestigious thing to win!
So when they say they are like our Oscars (well, Golden Globes would be more apt, since it’s TV too), they really aren’t. They’re a mash-up of the People’s Choice Awards and the Golden Globes.
And on top of that, they always seem to have cringe-worthy stuff in them.
Still, Elias won a most outstanding award, which was a wonderful recognition of his acting in his role as Danny and his overall talent.

can we please talk about martin staying at home and watching danny swim, staring at the tv like a lovesick puppy while his girlfriend is sitting awkwardly beside him like wtf ??!?

watching parts of that episode again, it feels like the moment he decided not to go was symbolising his decision against danny, against being gay and for a life that is not his own and will not make him happy. not completely, that is. *big sigh*
