I have cackled at this line for two minutes and each time I revised it I kept on thinking about it, so I'm posting it here for my enjoyment
Deleted scene from Mr 7th Floor
Since it’s taken me forever to update this fic (I’m sorry, I signed up for a lot of exchanges) I thought I’d post some amusing stuff from a scene that didn’t make the cut. I liked it but it would have changed the atmosphere and direction I decided I wanted the fic to go in.
Once upon a time, Matt actually was promoted by Francis! Unfortunately, him getting his promotion took away a lot of incentive for necessary character development - if his terrible life rewarded him, there would be no positive change. This meant that I had to go back, change the conversation and not promote Matt (sorry Matt). Looking back, now I kinda feel like it could have worked? Anyway, what’s done is done. Here is a scene of what could have been:
Francis and Matt discuss how to manage their team:
Francis hums again. “What do you think would help?”
Less work. “It doesn’t just have to be me. Our team is capable, promote them, or do what you think Arthur is trying to do, maybe there’s Director material in another team who would love to work with us.”
“That goes both ways you know Mattieu? You can delegate. Trust the team.”
Matthew wants to throw his hands up in the air but Francis’ laughter beats him to it. “You have no idea, Matthieu, how absolutely resourceful they are. I know you are protective of them but just imagine the skill it takes to stalk a man for you, keep it a secret and with him none the wiser? Let me tell you, they have coordinated, formed teams, worked together, and faced grave danger. I have allowed this activity because I am always amazed at the deep resources of innovation I have seen from them.”
Matthew has to let that sink in for a few seconds before, “WHAT?!!!” The other patrons look over at him briefly, before going back to their lunches, but Francis is simply laughing.
“Why do you think I got involved? My own humble self? I have never seen that man unaware of anything! He usually has fingers in every pot!”
“This stops! Now.” Matthew is mortified. He will never be able to even look at Daan again and dear God, they’re having lunch on Wednesday.
“I imagine it will, on its own accord, since you have Lukas now. Shame,” Francis laments dramatically with a wave of his hand. “I shall miss this chapter. The amusement from it has been very very good for morale.”
Matthew bites the inside of his cheek to prevent himself from spilling that he and Lukas are far from a done deal. “Leave the man alone, he has a boyfriend for goodness’ sake.” He grumbles.
“He does?!” Francis exclaims in shock. “Well well, I suspected but wasn’t sure whether or not that man was actually his boyfriend or just a tool to keep those Associates away. Ah Matthieu, sorry, I tend to bring him up when I think the atmosphere is becoming too tense. He is good for that.”
“How do you sit in meetings with him and not…” Give us away? Laugh?
Francis grins. “I am a man of mirth by nature.”
“Fine,” Matthew grumbles. “But that’s a problem. You can’t just invoke Daan’s name to fix morale. We need changes Francis - we have too many junior staff and we scramble to find work for them but there’s hardly anyone to lead. Even you can’t be in hundreds of places at once, so that leaves me. There’s only one of me. And…” And Matthew isn’t sure if he can keep up but still can’t admit it, doesn’t want to disappoint.

Maybe there are some on the DVD?! Does anyone know?
