Picture it:
Itās New Yearās Eve. Youāre ready to celebrate, waiting for the ball to drop, and you canāt help but reflect on the year thatās passed. You think about your bank account (a little emptier than you would like) your health (having lettuce on your burger totally counts as a veggie a day, right?) or your schedule (writing reminders down on the back of your hand works⦠sometimes). As the clock ticks down to midnight, you make a promise to yourself: This will be the year that you finally get your shit together.
That was me. Ā And it was me the year before that, and the year before that, and just about every year of my adult life.
I mean, I didnāt want to accomplish a lot. Iām not good with huge changes, and I didnāt really have the time to commit to some sort of massive life overhaul anyway, so I took some time to really figure out what it was I was after. When I sat down to really think about what getting my shit together would look and feel like, I came up with some pretty simple stuff. I wanted to be a little healthier ā drink more water, get my fruits and veggies in. I wanted to get in better shape, too. Not ārun a marathonā in shape, but ācan run up a flight of stairsā shape. I wanted to end the year with some money in the bank, instead of being broke. Finally, I thought it would be nice if I could be a bit more organized and stop procrastinating so much.
Simple stuff, really ā it was just doing it that was so hard.
I looked into getting help, and thereās a lot of help out there ā planners with a billion set-up questions, journals with complicated symbols to learn ā and I just knew none of them were going to work for me. I needed something simple to accomplish my simple goals, because starting your own business is amazing but I was more focused on building up to drinking eight glasses of water a day. Also, I wanted to make sure that whatever I used wouldnāt be something that would stress me out or bring me down. As someone whoās engaged in a lifelong struggle with anxiety and depression it was important to me that whatever I used wouldnāt derail the progress that Iād made.
So I gave up on using something that was out there, and decided to create my own ā and the Get Your S#!t Together Planner was born. Ā No huge changes, no convoluted goal maps or bullet systems to learn, no complicated questionnaires to fill out - just simple guides built into a day planner to help you make small changes that will leave you healthier, wealthier, and happier by the end of 2016. Ā You can check it out at www.gystplanner.com!
