Hello everyone. I've very much tried to keep any personal posts off this blog as much as possible, but there comes a time when every rule meets its exception. The thing is that for awhile now I've been considering quitting FYA; that is, putting it on permanent hiatus, though I probably wouldn't delete what's been posted until now. Of course I love maintaining this blog, interacting with all of you, and promoting my favorite artist, and I'm exceedingly proud of how far this blog has come in just a year, but a few things have come up which have made me really start wondering whether this is something I want to continue. For starters, although I personally really hate when blogs I follow go on hiatus due to the admin entering university, that's unfortunately something which I have to write here. I've just graduated language school and will be entering vocational university from next week (my orientation is tomorrow). Along with that, I work two (soon three) part time jobs as well as having a personal life, so there's just really not much time left to promptly upload photos, spend time doing translation etc. Another very huge reason that I'm considering quitting this blog is simply because I feel like my purpose is no longer being achieved and that makes me uncomfortable. I started FYA because personally I am hugely interested in the visual, makeup, & styling aspect of visual-kei rock, and I wanted to give people more of an insight into that world by promoting my favorite hair make artist, Asanuma Kaolu. I've done my best to be as in-depth as possible, which previously involved posting translations of every tweet and Twitter conversation he had, every Instagram post etc as well as of course scans of photo shoots he worked on etc. However, to be honest, I feel like this work is being overlooked, and the attention of my followers has focused solely on the band members in those scans. For example, I read post tags religiously, and I often see "get away from my [bias name]" "ugh god [bias name] unffff" "man [bias name] you did it again" etc. but it's rather rare to see any tags or comments pertaining to the styling or visual aspects of the shoot, so I feel like what is my favorite part of the blog -- that visual insight -- is completely unnecessary and the only posts which can succeed are those about everyone's biases. To me this feels unfair as well as just disappointing. I really thought more people would be interested in the talent and literal magic that this man and this branch of society has, but it seems like there's less than 10 people who really care about that. As someone who's starting classes next week to train to become a hair make artist myself, that is extremely demoralizing and really makes me wonder whether there's a point in continuing. And, since I'm about to enter that world myself, I often feel uncomfortable with some of the seemingly innocuous posts that I upload onto FYA.. I feel like they represent almost obsessive feelings regarding band members or Kaolu himself that I don't possess and feel uncomfortable catering to. I apologize if you do not agree with this statement, but it is my personal opinion that band members, artists, stylists etc are humans and people first and foremost, and they deserve respect and privacy from their fans. Respect and privacy aren't things I've seen often in online fandom and it really does make me very hesitant about posting to cater to that demanding sort of fan. At the moment I've just been home about an hour after two long international flights following a week abroad, and I have a minor cold, so I'm not sure if I was able to express myself coherently but I hope my message was understandable anyway. I haven't yet made the final decision but I guess I will within a few days, especially once I receive my class schedule, and will post again at that time. I of course welcome any comments or questions regarding anything I wrote. Feel free to contact me either here on the FYA blog or at my personal tumblr, malformed-box. I apologize for clogging your dashes with a long unexpected text post like this. Hope you all have a wonderful rest of the day & good night. Ravi / FYA Admin
