I think this record was a hugely under-acknowledged step in dance music history. Listen to the drum patterns - for 1984 I think the beats are proto-house (that's not a bad thing if you regard the first wave of 86-88 which mostly was cold experimental synth pop. Trouble is, who's gonna admit to the influence of Alien Sex Fiend when you could say Kraftwerk or New Order?

i feel silly typing “cool coldwave band” but here we are. despite what you may think, “coldwave” has little to do with “chillwave” which is boring crap one rung above wet-weekend british jangle-pop shit like coldplay or travis. it’s more like 80s synthpop that wants to die
