Hello. I really hope you stop for a minute and read what I have to say, because my heart is absolutely breaking and we need help.
Do you see that dog up there? That’s Kirby. He’s a Lhasa Apso. He’s the family dog, and he’s the cutest most vivacious puppy you will ever meet. He’s so kind and filled with love, and he will always come running up to you even if he doesn’t know you to rub against you or lick your hand.
As Of two days ago, Kirby stopped being so playful. He crawled into the corner, and hid from his family. When we’d go near him, he’d bark as if to leave him alone. And when we tried to pick him up, he would scream in pain. He seemed to always be resting and irritable, and chose to not move. He declined food, no matter how much we put before him and refused to even drink.
Kirby has been diagnosed with Paralysis of the legs caused by invertebral Disk Disease. This is most commonly found in smaller dogs, likes Dachshunds, Hounds, and Lhasa Apsos. Sometimes there is a more bearable and livable condition of this disease, but for our poor little Kirby this is not the case. He has severe pain and paralysis of both back legs.
We asked the veterinarian if there was anything we could do, and the only options are to get surgery to remove the calcifications in his disk, or have him put down.
His pain is so severe, that if he shows no sign of improvements soon- that would be the only humane thing to do. As of this moment, his spine is so bad that he needs round the clock ICU type care and daily therapy.
The reason he looks like hes sitting lazily in those pictures, is because he CANT lay down like he normally does. His legs are paralyzed, so that’s the only way his body can rest. We try laying him down, and he physically CANNOT do it because his spine hurts so much. In fact, it causes him so much pain that he has to look upward constantly so that everything is aligned for him and he gets some sort of relief. That position is not comfortable for him at all, but his failed lower body forces him to be in it for hours at a time.
I cannot lose my dog right now… I just can’t let that happen. But we also can’t afford this surgery. At all. My Dad is in severe debt and my Mother has been un-employed for over a year and a half due to her fibromyalgia and lack of jobs. I myself cannot pitch in even a little, because i’ve been in an emotionally abusive relationship with a man who did not allow me to get a job. And now I’m about to go through a nasty divorce, still jobless, and trying to see if I can qualify for divorce aid. Even if I got a job right now, all those earnings would still not be enough to save our dogs life.
I am on tumblr right now, asking- no begging really. From one human to another, if you can help our little Kirby in this time of crisis. He is the only thing that’s ever brought our miserable lives any joy, and now that he could be gone soon we’re falling apart at the seams. This innocent dog does not deserve this cruel fate for him. ALL he’s EVER done is shown LOVE and wanted LOVE in return. That’s all, and now his back is ruined and all in a blink of an eye his passion for life is diminishing and it could be over just like that. My dog can’t die… he just can’t. Not over something as stupid as money.
So i’m begging you, please. To help out with what little you can. If you have a penny to spare, literally a penny. I would be the most grateful human being on this planet. Obviously, as much as you can is greatly appreciated, but I also understand what hard times we’ve all fallen on. If every other person who re-blogged this donated one penny, and this got enough reblogs, i’m sure it would amount to a great deal if we really tried. Please, please. I am begging humanity, don’t let an innocent dog die because of stupid money. I would owe you all my life. We need around 4,000 dollars. :/
